Several Bald Eagles been hanging around the yard for the past week. They hangout with the vultures. They all took to the wing a little while ago and a group of hawks made known their presence.

Saw a bloated tick on a Northern Junco at the birdfeeder yesterday. hope it drops off at the feeder. Will look for it on the ground today

Actually that looks more like "Hey Baby, hey baby ... baby, hey baby" to me. Reference is to a classic Far Side cartoon called "animals and their mating sounds."

They're doing the bird equivalent of Saturday Night Fever.

I just watched a series of hilarious Youtube videos of dogs not wanting to take a bath or shower. I'm a cat person and not a dog person, but ... A lot of people, and young parents don't realize that water that feels tepid to an adult can actually burn a young child. In the case of the dogs, hilariously trying to avoid bathing, I have never seen a dog that didn't love to splash around in water or swim. In these videos I just watched, the dogs were aware of how hot the water in the bath or shower was and the funny video of their owners dragging them into that too hot water was torture to them. Think, people!

One of my cats likes water. Both love snow. When it was snowing a couple of weeks ago one of the cats was looking out longingly.

I call bald eagles Columbia River pigeons. They are pretty common around here.

They are getting that way here. Here is a pic of the one I had to get the broom after. He got mad and flew up into that tree where he stayed for almost an hour.

Yeah, not ours. She ran off the porch, her paws hit the snow, immediate stop. Backed up, slunk down, back in the house. Laughed my butt off. Did not go out until spring hit. Smart cat.

Another cat would shake his paw off after each step in the snow, and shudder before taking another step. He eventually got the hang of it.

The funniest thing about cats is when they do something stupid, and whether they think they're being observed or not, they act like "I meant to do that".

These cats are actually Siberian Forest Cats. We let one of them out in the snow last year and she jumped through the snow like foxes in a nature documentary.

The other one is more timid about the snow but loves water, she'll wade in it. She's also the clumsiest cat I've ever known. She's constantly falling off of things. The worst was when she fell from the second story onto a glass table. No damage to the cat or table, but it was terrifying to watch.

I was going to remark on that. How did the photographer get the dogs to behave so well?
