Those dudes were all nuts, no telling what they did or might have done. I'd put nothing past them. When I worked in a pharmacy in the 80s we had a guy that would come in. His great uncle was Otto something or other, no one real well known or anything. But, supposedly was in the SS. But, anyway, he comes in one April 20th and he says, "Do you know what today is!!!?" real excitedly. And the pharmacist didn't know but he is like we all are when someone acts like this about something no one knows, so the pharmacist says, "Arbor Day?" And he says, "No! It's Hitler's birthday! He'd be 100 years old today!" So, I guess it was 1989. That dude had some seriously marbles loose. He was one of the ones who claimed that the Jewish people went to tennis camps and then emigrated away instead of going home. We always just viewed him as some old kook, and left it at that.
