Any possibility to keep "old" 3D graphics and "old" buttons? Mods?

Thanks for update , I see many improvements, but I like "standard" 3D graphics and the new one is not the best for me ...

Sorry, no, not until some of you guys prepares the mod, as the graphics files naming and structures changed significantly for 2.0.

Having said that, it is certainly doable, and I am more than happy to help in that. Also, our website has a series of Developer Diaries explaining how the all-revised Regions and Biomes system works in 2.0. They also explain the required file changes.

I was watching some old videos and I was wondering what mod they were using. I realise now that it was maybe the old look of the game. Strangely enough, it looked better ...

I wish the new counter and different zoom levels were available for CS East-/Westfront and Rising Sun! :)

We just put the first East Front III ALPHA build together, based on the CSME 2.0 level code base, a couple of weeks back. It looks rather nice, I'd say. I am biased of course

Don't get me wrong, I really like the look of the game. Counters are gorgeous and I like the 3D map too !

There are still mods out for the different 'base' and so on. I have to get familiar with the CS engine again... been more than a decade since I did play eastern Front etc.

And I have another question : the music we can hear when he launched the game in the above video was already the main theme in Divided Grounds, if I remember well.
But I don't have it in the CSME and I' really like this arabic melody, great for immersion ... Meanwhile I installed the music mod so maybe it's inside ? In fact, before I installed the music mod, when I activated "music background" it was battle sounds instead of music
This is why I installed the mod.

What music mod? Anyway, I take it you meant this song/theme...

That's right, the old Divided Ground tune was put there for old time's sake

It should be on by default when having any of the Front End dialogs open, ie. before you have selected a scenario and fired up the game itself. Do you have it there?

In-game, there's a set of tunes that are played on random order, if you have the Background Music option ON. Background Sounds is the ambient battle noise, so have that OFF instead.

Let me knows if this helped.

And no, the mod is not it. Disable it for the duration of trying the above out, at least. You can enable it later if you want. It's a collection of alternate tunes completely.

I can't here the DG tune at all, even when I launch the game.

Regarding the background sound, I do have "background music" activated in the option menu but instead of music I hear machine guns (but a different file from teh one used for "background sound". After a while there's some music but no good old DG tune. :-(
And when the front-end or "select scenario" menu is activated (first menu when launching the game), there's no music at all. I'm using the version I purchased/installed yesterday.

So I decided to instaIl the music mod so now I do have music but still no DG tune.

Oh, that's right: Background Music ON still plays ambient battle sounds at random, too. To see (and hear) the tune, check your Sounds folder, and look for xbackg1.ogg. That's the one.

edit typo

By the way, here's an old mod guide I did on background music; LINK

It is still relevant, albeit written for JTCS EF II game.

I don't have any xbackg01.ogg. I have xbackg0.ogg and xbackg1.ogg (and then up to xbackg5.ogg) but none plays the original DG tune which is the one in the video below, starting at 0'20" of the video >>>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nE50zYvBDrY
The one in xbackg0.ogg is the music starting at 2'32" in the video

xbackg1.ogg is empty (no music at all) and xbackg0.ogg is a different song. Pretty similar but different.

Looks like there's some kind of mess in the sounds files :-)))

Cheers, let me have a look. xbackg01.ogg is a typo, meant to type xbackg1.ogg,

Thanks, but as far as music is concerned, I usually do a winamp playlist with tunes that match the game ambiance instead of modding. The lazy ba*tard solution :-)
Just need to find the DG tune file ...

Cheers, I posted that as an explanation to sound file setup under the hood.

Meanwhile, I believe you've caught a legit bug there! Somehow, in my fresh 2.0 install, the xbackg1.ogg is the silent version, that should be only there when that mod is activated.

Here's the file: DOWNLOAD LINK Just drop it to your Sounds folder (while "Skip Intro Music" mod is deactive, as it by default is), and you - and everyone else, too - are good to go!

I was referring to the welcome menu in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nE50zYvBDrY

Rather than in a video, if you had seen the old "welcome menu" for real, I think you would more clearly see its limitations. In actual use (not as displayed in a video), the old "welcome menu" looked decidedly old fashioned. The latest "welcome menu" is more in the modern style. Just our opinion.
