My favorite game of all time is WitP AE. it's getting pretty old though and doesn't work well with MS10. Is there a game out there that will entertain me as much as WitP has?

Matrix World In Flames. It has issues you need to be aware of but its an absolute stonker of a game.

That game is nearly as old as WitP! Does it work on Win10?

The new Operational Art of War IV has a full Pacific War scenario (41-45). You can view a game that was started but not finished in the AAR section of the game's forum (Pacific at War 1941-1945 v.3.63). And of course as an added bonus you get a game with multiple scenarios over many centuries.

The PAC War scenario does not currently have a computer opponent but I am suggesting it since World in Flames does not have any AI either so I am assuming that is not a problem.

I would say the strong point of World in Flames (for me) was the Eastern Front land battles. I personally found the naval and air routines to be pretty tedious.

On the positive side, there are so many phases that playing against yourself isn't an issue (for me) with WiF, whereas I don't think I would enjoy playing TOAW IV turn after turn against myself.

If your lifestyle includes enough time for WitP AE then CMANO is the game for you.

In 30 years I'll be 90. I really don't want to wait that long for a good game!

I wish CMANO had a strategic/operational scope like WitP AE. I'd never leave my house again.

I'd like a WitP-AE 2 with much of the same features- WEGO 1-3 day turns, 40-50 mile hex map, etc. Overall, I love the scope of WitP, but the execution is an exercise in OCD micromanagement. Clean up and modernize the interface (less mouse clicking), automate some processes and streamline the logistics. Considering the forum traffic for WitP and WitP-AE as an indicator of popularity, I'm surprised Matrix hasn't made a "new and improved" WitP a priority project.

Is there such a thing? I can only think of the first game Uncommon Valour.

I'm kind of surprised not many people have questioned it not working on Win 10. I don't play it much, but it seems just fine on my Win 10 machine.

There was a MS patch released not to long ago that screws up the monitor. Lot's of speculation as to the cause, but it is messing up a lot of people. Perhaps you don't have updates turned on?

I just did a check and it says my windows is up to date.

Maybe i need to play it more and see? I powered up WITPAE and it seemed fine. I use a HD TV 1080 for my monitor, might that be why I'm having no issues?

There is no replacement for AE.

Yes, really weird, but in a good way for me. I just let the 12/7/1941 turn run and saw no bleeding. My monitor adjusts to 1024-768 ingame, and maybe that is it?

Good question. If Matrix has a flagship game I would think it would probably be WITP. Wish there were more effort devoted to keeping the game alive with more patches containing new features and improvements as well as a concerted effort to launch a new and improved WITP 2. Of course maybe there is something going on behind the scenes we don't know about.

I hope there's something going on- don't these guys know how to milk a cash cow?

I just reloaded it last week on my machine with an updated win 10 at 1920 X 1080, works fine.

I'm not an expert at getting games to run at different resolutions. How would I be able to force it to play in 1080?

OS compatibility issues are another reason to revise and release a new WitP. Each new version of Windows is going to leave the current game further and further behind. C'mon Matrix! Like GaryChildress says, it's your flagship game!

I would give my left...toenail...for a new AE. But it would have to be done from the ground up. And it's a niche game. So the RoE probably wouldn't be there. I'm pretty sure the guys at Matrix know to the quarter anyways, what kind of project it would be. You would have to win one of those huge Powerballs, and then sign it all over to Matrix, before they could even justify looking at the idea
