Hello,

Just started receiving a error after auto updating through steam to 1.4.1 and buying silent service today. When starting the game from Steam it gives me a pop up message that says.

"It appears you are running Command in Steam mode, but the Steam client does not appear to be running. Please ensure the Steam client is running before starting Command. The game will now exit."

Tried restarting steam and my computer, still getting error with a legal version of Command on steam with nearly 1200 hours played time on it based on steam stats.

Edit: Tried Verifying files, still showing the error upon game startup.

Thanks,
please assist.

Yes, I can confirm that the same thing is happening to me. I bought Silent Service right after the auto update to 1.4.1.

I also verified files, and tried another fix suggested on the steam discussions, and the problem persists.

Something in the update clearly broke the way CMANO communicates with steam, or something. I'll patiently wait for a fix.

That's quite odd. After the same update/upgrade path (1.4.1 auto-updated first, then Silent Service downloaded/installed), I am able to start Command (latest build, not the prior some Matrix customers got when installing Silent Service after 1.4.1) both with and without Steam running beforehand, with Steam starting up automatically if it wasn't already running.

Could it be a Steam version issue? My Steam API is v017, and my package version is 1513371133.

If your Steam library folder is in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\...", try uninstalling the game and reinstall it in a different Steam library folder, like for example "C:\New Steam\....".

For adding a new Steam library folder, please follow the steps below:
1. Open Steam Client
2. Click on "Steam" on the top left and click "Settings" on the drop down menu
3. Click on the "Downloads"
4. Click on "STEAM LIBRARY FOLDERS" button
5. Click on "ADD LIBRARY FOLDER"
6. Click on the Drive letter you wish to add a New Steam Library Folder
7. Click on "NEW FOLDER"
8. Choose a folder named (for example "New Steam") and Click on "OK" button
9. Click on "SELECT"
10. Click on "CLOSE"

Hello,

I tried completely re installing the game. This did not work.

Also my steam is fully up to date.

Attempted the above method to dictate a new steam folder but it responded that Steam automatically manages folders on the same drive when I create a new Steam folder, as I only operate with a single hard drive.

Same issue here, the latest update certainly broke something for atleast some users, hope the devs look into it and correct it as soon as they can

Perhaps one temporary work around might be to run Steam as administrator.

Baloogan,

I can confirm that this workaround does remove the game error about the steam client for me and allows for successful launch of the game.

Thanks for everyone's help and good hunting.

Note that you must completely restart the Steam client to get this to take, and that when Steam starts it complains about running in an incomplete/incorrect compatibility mode and you just have to ignore the instructions to disable the client from running as administrator.

Interesting. I put my Steam Libraries on anywhere but C:, and never saw this one.

My Steam version just updated to 1.14, and it doesn't get this error. I don't run Steam under Admin rights, so it must how Steam client and the Steam apps are interfacing.
I know in the past some other Steam apps have had a similar issue, but it always seems to be how Steam handles the application rather than the application itself. At least as far as I can see ...

BTW, this is on Win10 x86

Running Steam as administrator does allow starting CMANO, however the game runs with no in-game sounds! Music works OK, but there are no sounds at all. Turning in-game audio option on/off does not help.
I am running Windows 8.1, Steam updated to latest version.Tried other options as well (beta, CMANO reinstall.

Everyone who is still having this problem:

1) Download this file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tfeD_x5LBmd9hxi22REqMC0w1PLeae1b/view?usp=sharing

2) Drop it on the folder where CMANO is installed (same folder where Command.exe is located).

3) Run Command.

Please let us know if this works for you. Thanks!
