As I see more creative scenarios and I find that it is not easy to find good maps to let all your creativity express, I am working on maps packs which will create New scenarios.

This allows you to see what it is possible to do in this game by using the cards of the good old boardgames that drag on our shelves.

Afghanistan

Arnhem

D Day

Grozny or Stalingrad or whatever you want

Mossul

Tarawa atol

Some WW1 battlefield

Sarajevo airport

Let your imagination take control...

Thanks.

How it's made ?

I take pictures from boardgames (or computer games boards) i own and adapt them to fit the board template of Heroes of Stalingrad game.

They need some adjustments in Photoshop and a meticulous work positioning.

Then just cut the huge board into 9 small pieces corresponding each to a single board of the game.

There is no trade here

This is a volunteer work and the goal is to get an improved game by the players community.
Everyone is welcome to bring their stones to the building and give this game the place it deserves ...

If only, the developers wanted to recover and do it professionally ...

One can always dream .

Nice!!!

I'm interested by pictures n°4 and n°5.

If only, the developers wanted to recover and do it professionally ...

The developers did not have the idea of genius that you had,
They missed plenty of potential DLC and therefore money,
Whatever the reasons they had for giving up,
They disappointed the players we are,
They will NEVER be Heroes.

This sentence will look good in my ZakMod!

Hello everyone,

I was beginning to think about creating maps of Omaha's beaches. My inspiration was also focusing on Close Combat maps.

All it'is still very incipient, but maitrebongo's initiative has encouraged me to try.

Likewise, I have some surprise for the counters (inspired by the ASL3D mod for TotH mods, but with new features), but it's still a secret !!!.

My congratulations to maitrelongo for the excellent work he is doing.

I also think, like Rico, that he is a true Hero ......

Regards,

Yes i can (i have read your MP but don't have much time this week to answer... Sorry)

To adapt the picture to the HoS game i use a Template file (a Photoshop .PSD file) with hexgrid in the right format to fit 9 (3x3) HoS maps.
I paste my picture in this file and try to adjust as much as possible to have things (houses, roads, rivers...) in the hexes.

I will soon post my template files and a tutorial on how to do that.

Do you want to do that map yourself ?
Are you using Photoshop ?
What is the point you cannot release ?

If you prefer, you can send me the picture (presuming you have scanned the Noville map) and i made it for you.
If not you can send me the scan because i have lost mine

If you want to learn, please answer questions first as it i know what to say to you.

Ok, i'll try to help you.

First, download this 2 template files :

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD TEMPLATE SIMPLE CARTE Photoshop file

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD TEMPLATE GRANDE CARTE Photoshop file

These file are .psd (photoshop) files. Gimp could open it.

TO MAKE YOUR OWN MAP :

- Open TEMPLATE GRANDE CARTE.psd file
- Copy you map picture on a layer under the hexes grid's one
- Resize and crop your map picture to fit the hex grid (if your original map picture don't have hexes printed, resize it logicaly paying attention to the scale)
- You can see that TEMPLATE GRANDE CARTE file is divided into nine zones using markers. Each zone represents a standard map size corresponding to the nine zones of the game's scenario editor.
- You have to select a zone, then copy it And paste the cut piece of your image in the TEMPLATE SIMPLE CARTE.psd file. You can see there is markers too to delimit where you have to paste it.
- Then save your file as XXXXXX.bmp

You have to do that for each piece of your map depending the size of you original picture.
Note that a maximum of nine pieces (24 x 42 hexes) is possible in Heroes of Stalingrad game.

Hope it helps you.

If necessary, feel free to ask me more.

By the way, could you still send me the scan of your Noville board, please.
I still not have it.
Thanks

Thanks for the info.

My scan is not very good, so I was thinking about getting the map file from a vassal module, but that's probably wrong to do that.

No that's a good idea. But as i know, there is no vassal module with the Noville map.

Do you have one ?

That's the same thing with Forgoten Heroes of Vietnam and Anzac Attack... That's why theses map are on low resolution on my mod : I have the first edition and the map are very ugly compared to the second edition.

I'm no more able to save a mpp files. When i have done, from a bmp, the map with the terrain and polygons i try to save it as mpp file writing the name and the extension mpp but the file remain always a map file so is not useful for a later work. The only change from the past, is a new PC with Windows 7 instead of XP.

You did not activate the display of suffixes in windows. your BMPs have no suffixe. So, your 32ali.mpp is in fact a 32ali.mpp.map but you can't see the .map suffixe...
you have to deactivate the "hide suffixe from known files" fonction from your windows.

Because .mpp is not a known file format, and .map yes.
So your Windows system shows you the real .mpp files suffixe and not the .map files suffixe EVEN if the name of your map file is XXXX.mpp.map, so you could believe that .mpp is a suffixe... but no... it's just a part of the name of the file.

I tried to make some maps (from ASL scans) with editor as you teach it. After all work is done (polygons are the big thing !), i saved them individually as .bmp files in the LnL/art/maps folder then in a .mpp file in the LnL/map folder. I quit the editor and when i try to use them to design a scenario they appear as "empty" maps whereas hexes contents texts and polygons are still present (visible under F1 and F4 modes) but not the image of the map itself (the .bmp file). Also i tried to save the map after the hexes contents work and before the polygons thing : it works perfectly. Map image and terrain features texts appear, even the "polygons" automaticaly generated by the engine (inherent terrain) like Full Forest or Brush even when i use only map info to load the map (no need to use raw map info to load which i had to use when polygons are hand-made). The polygons work seems to ruin it all !
What did i do wrong ? I'm a little desperate because it's a lot of work made in vain...
