I just wanted to say I think it is so great when a senario designer adds a realistic sea state number to their work. Let’s face it, not many places or times where you find a zero. I don’t post very often so I’m not allowed to embed links but there are some great web sites that give wave heights for any place on the earth that can be easily converted to sea state. Websites like one that starts with the word bouyweather and ends with a dot com for example. HA
Seems like such a simple thing but of course it can have a huge effect on ASW ops for example.

Very much agreed; even better when the weather changes throughout the scenario.

The funny thing is you can make that change yourself in less than 5 minutes. You can play one way and then the other and see how much of a difference it makes.

There are some weather "place holders" currently also, so I am sure its impact will be more in future iterations of the sim.
One thing that I must admit that is funny, but not a big deal, is that its parts do not always match up...so that on occasion there is sea state 7 but no weather... or "Heavy rain" but no clouds lol...
I look forward to the point when the weather will affect air ops (more so than clouds affecting sighting and targeting) but I also feel for the devs when THAT one happens, because I can almost already imagine the outrage that "My plane cannot fly at night???" lol.

I can also suggest to add "laboratory mode", to make both time and weather effect totally static and stable. That could allow player to make unit comparisons in totally controlled environment.

True. Good point. I guess I’m a bit more of a player then an editor, and I like to compare my results with my fellow commanders, which negates any changes to the posted senarios. Too bad the default isn’t a sea state of something like 3. That way anyone forgets to set it it will be something realistic.

I am in awe of the excellent senarios that keep coming out from this community. Setting the sea state when you are done is simply Van Gogh putting his signature at the bottom of the painting when he’s done!

Its a simple change. Just surprised you don't even consider it.

The thing with weather and sea state etc.. I would like an on-screen real time display of the current weather in the current zone of operations. Yes, you can obtain the info from an in game message or by going up into the game menu and looking at what the weather is. But maybe a small display of current conditions might be valuable up at the top near where the date and time are now displayed. Maybe I am wrong, but wouldn't the screens in a tactical operation center display the weather in a manner that is right in front to those needing that data? I could care less about the camera altitude. Give the player the cloud cover, sea state etc where that altitude is currently displayed. There is plenty of room.

Current weather is displayed in the Map Cursor data block, unless you've turned it off.

Yeah, you are right. But there is still room for a more overt way to display that data given weather's potential affect on operations. Not a huge deal. Just a minor tweak to the main display. Like I said, remove the camera altitude and replace it with the weather found in the data block. Maybe color code it to alert the player to severe conditions and or changes.
