Can this be turned off or warning given if damage is going to happen? Ships just move right through each other blowing up and it can be really hard to tell where they are going unless you move them hex by hex. Subs should only be able to do this in silent mode. Too tedious.

At the moment you cannot turn this off but one thing you can do is a controlled movement so that you can purposefully navigate around an enemy naval unit if desired. This can be done by using the CTRL key on your keyboard and then left mouse clicking to plot your movement points.

Hopefully this helps,
Hubert

Sorry but how is this different than moving hex by hex? What am I missing here? Should ships not automatically route around each other? Seems like you should only have to do hex by hex if you want to go through enemy ships not the opposite. Seems like this is hindrance to the AI as well. What is the purpose of it? Sorry to question just love the game!

In many cases plotting your move to avoid an enemy ship will be less clicks than having to go hex by hex as you can plot logical straight lines over a distance of more than a single hex, but of course it depends upon how close you are to the enemy ships to begin with. Essentially the option is there to plot a course if desired without having to click each planned movement hex one by one.

If I remember correctly, you were at one time not able to pass through enemy ships, and this was especially a factor when surrounded, but now you can pass through an enemy ship (at your discretion) but at the potential cost of losing a single strength point. There is a 50% chance of losing a single strength point when choosing to pass through an enemy ship.
