Hi all,

Is there any limit to oil stacking?

At Shikuka on Sakhalin Island, my oil remains at 30 000 every turn, while my ressources are at over 500 000.
Is this a bug or i missed a limitation?

Thanks in advance for your help

Thanks Yaab !

Why is there no transfert to another base (like Toyohara)?
The ressources are transfered but not the oil, any reason to this?

There is no demand for oil at Toyohara since no refineries or loading tankers. Hence no transfer.
Resources are produced there though, not transfered.

Hi GetAssista,

Thanks for your answer, but I disagree :

7 dec 1941 :

Toyohara ( 3 Manpower, 520 ressources, 40 Light Industry) : 150 053 ressources, 0 oil
Shikuka (30 oil production) : 0 ressources, 19 470 oil

7 feb 1942 :

Toyohara ( 3 Manpower, 520 ressources, 40 Light Industry) : 134 400 ressources, 0 oil
Shikuka (30 oil production) : 591 947 ressources, 30 000 oil

I didn't use the stockpiling, and no ship went there.

So ressources are moving (from Toyohara to Shikuka ... to the biggest port i guess? I think i've read that somewhere) but oil remains where it's produced even if it has reached it's limit of 100 days? I hoped/thought that oil would move to another base if linked, in order to avoid that loss ... ?

Next guess : if I upgrade Toyohara port capacity to 4, will the oil move and stock there? Or maybe to lvl 5 ?

Thanks in advance !

Hum ... I made a test :

I've tried with Toyohara having a bigger port and bigger airfield, according to this thread, all should go there.
It worked for supply, fuel and ressources, but not for the oil that remained at Shikuka. Any idea why?
Also, if there is no oil at Toyohara, i cannot create a demand for oil to have an "AI automatic oil path" (with tankers e.g.).

Sorry if i missed an info, and thanks in advance for your help :)

You can prime the pump by picking up a bit of oil in Shikuka and dropping it at Toyohara, then reloading it on another tanker before it gets a chance to flow back to Shikuka.

harrer,

I suggest you reread closely my posts in the various provided threads and chapter 13 of the manual.  At the moment you still retain certain expectations which are not consistent with game mechanics.

1.  All overland movement of industry feedstock and output is driven by demand.  Feedstock (raw materials) will simply not move from
Base A to Base B if there is no demand for that raw material at Base B.

2.  Industry at a base will only import feedstock overland from another base if it lacks sufficient local production of that feedstock to meet the demand of the local raw material processing facility.  A valid supply path must exist in order for the overland movement to occur.

3.  It follows, without the need for any precise knowledge of which scenario you are playing nor how built up are the two Sakhalin Island bases, that oil is not moving from Shikuka to Toyohara because there is no shortage of oil at Toyohara.

4.    Building up the port at Toyohara is completely irrelevant.  Unless you are playing some fantasy scenario, Toyohara port size will never exceed the size of Shikuka's.  But more relevantly is why would oil move anyway? The only industrial facility which uses oil as its feedstock are Refinery Centres.  Usually of the two bases, only Toyohara has a demand for oil and it's local oil production greatly exceeds the local demand.  There is therefore no need to import any oil from Shikuka to feed the Refinery Centres of Toyohara.  In fact Toyohara is a net exporter of oil to the larger port where it is available for ship pickup.

5.  Overall, Sakhalin Island's total oil production greatly exceeds the local demand for it.  There is no overland connection to the rest of Japan.  It is your responsibility as the player to ship the excess out to where it is needed.

Thanks BBfanboy and Alfred for your answers.

Alfred : I tried to find an easy way to bypass the "oil limit", so that if I forget to ship oil from Shikuka to Japan, they will be stocked at Shikuka and not lost.
But it seems to be the same "problem" at Taihoku on Formosa (oil 8 = max 8 000, no transfer, need to use little tankers to bring it back to Japan)

Try using a few of the larger xAKs at Taihoku that have a 300 liquid capacity. That way you can move excess resources and the oil at the same time.
