Cheers everyone,

long time no see, hope development is coming along nicely.

SO far all artillery is basically DS, or Direct Support, meaning that the firing unit is only firing for us. We do not need to worry that from one moment to another higher echelon has better things to do with them than to support us.

I played the Tabletop game "Flames of War" for a while, and remember that you could buy varying priority of Air Support.

The number of dice you roll for your request dependet on how much points you spend pre-battle.

Wouldn't it be interesting for the player to also be able to buy "lower" priority batteries, i.e. GS batteries?

The result could be that the player is requesting Artilery as per the old version, but a die roll determines if the FDC Greenlights the support. In any case, even if the support is granted, the Battery is on cool-down so that the player can not spam requests, for let's say 10 minutes.

On a sidenote:

1.) Random unaivailability of fire support during the first minutes of a meeting engagement?
2.) No Calibre difference for Artillery units? So far it seems like all tubes are the same?

Cheers,

A

It is.

Perhaps in the future the artillery system can be made more unpredictable. I guess one way to do it is to add the 'general support' batteries, that may or may not be available during the battle.

Perhaps. We can consider this in the future if/when the new system is being designed.

The off-map units are still the same 'heavy artillery', no changes to that so far. Depending on the faction attributes, there's a chance that the incoming fire is rockets instead of shells.
