Turn 60 With forces in place around the Ohio Valley, the offensive has been successful early on. It is obvious at this point that the AXIS forces have lost all major punch, and will not advance - indeed are being pushed back or stymied on all fronts. The latest scenario reports continue to state that the US and its Allies have a significant victory. Here are the scenario notes pertaining to a 'substantial victory,' which I take to be the same or similar to a significant victory: SUBSTANTIAL VICTORY --WITH Japanese Involvement -- No Soviet Entry Germany and Japan have been soundly defeated. Axis soldiers lay down their arms all over North America. Some surrendering to local townspeople armed only with pitchforks. A humiliated Hitler goes berserk, hanging several top generals and civilian officials on grounds of conspiracy to undermine the German republic. Hitler, frustrated beyond belief and now desperate for a military success, begins the mobilization for operation Barbarossa, the invasion of Russia. The US now looks towards liberating England and all of Europe. Russia, buoyed by the US success and a prosperous farming season, begins rebuilding its military. Plans are being made in Moscow for a Russian invasion of Germany and Japan. A US puppet government has been established in Mexico and Brazil. Mexico later is broken-up into the 49th, 50th, 51st and 52nd states. In the Pacific, the United States still controls the Philippines. Hawaii, severely depleted of Japanese troops and ships, lies open for the US. The retaking of Hawaii is imminent. Japan, halts the planned invasion of India, unsure where to go next, or even, what to do. The loss of seasoned troops, equipment and ships has been felt hard in Tokyo. The future of the rising sun is in jeopardy. And so ends this play of Invasion Amerika. It was fun, but I lost a bit of enthusiasm for it as it became apparent that I should have begun by giving the AI an advantage, AND the map and initial setup needs to change: 1) As noted earlier in the AAR the Delmarva Penninsula become a black hole for almost all newly arrived AXIS troops who enter at New York, and have objectives directing them to the south and southwest. I had to repeatedly take over from the PO to set new objectives for those many divisions. So anyone wanting to play the scenario as the US vs. the PO should probably start by resetting those objectives; or perhaps some enterprising soul would want to revise the scenario in that regard; 2) The coastal batteries at San Francisco need to be removed, as (perhaps as a result of changes in TOAW4?) all Japanese troops passing by there on the way to landings get wiped out. 3) I had to help the AXIS move air units from their staging base northeast of Newfoundland. After being repositioned onto the mainland, the AI handled them well. Of course player vs player, most if not all of the above can be ignored. Oh yeah, I think a house rule is necessary that there should be no Allied sea interdiction. Otherwise, there's really no game. Again, I wonder if this factor is a result to improvements in the game in TOAW4.
