77 Tankers?

Whoa, good luck getting fuel to where you need it with that sort of loss.

That means every tanker you've got afloat is irreplaceable.

I think you can do it...with less efficiency..but it can be done although it will require more pre-planning for big ops.

Good news, you get 65 TK reinforcements for the rest of the gamw, bad news is you get 65 TK reinforcements for the rest of the game

The 183 liberty ships will be just as dearly missed.

You are truly a masochist for taking this on just so you can prove your point that it isn't a "game over" cheap shot.

Have fun fighting the rest of the war with 2/3s of the assets you should have.

Are the victory points sufficient to ensure an AV before your side can even gear up enough to fight back?

It may be too big a hill to climb. I consider myself better than average when it comes to logistics. So, this could turn out to be a short war if my TKs take a considerable hit somewhere along the way.

Time will tell.

Isn't there some effect on unrestricting restricted units??

Plus, there is acceleration of the air units which is a serious advantage for the Allies. As long as you hold Seattle I think you can kick LYB ass. You just need to fight your fight with the USAAF and ground units at the start. The best place to do this is where the bases are close together and multiply overlapping and you don't need huge carrier forces to
advance....The Sundas..Java...Burma...after the emergency is dealt with in the CONUS just send half a dozen US divisions 100 B-17's and 100 P-38's to Oz or India.

Just forget about the Marshals and Marianas.

The South Pacific, New Guinea, even Midway don't matter other than points (if you are close to Jap autovictory). Just find Curtis Lemay and give him a promotion.

Get some serious ground units to the Sundas and build up the bases on Timor for heavy bombers to wreck Balikpapan and Soerabja.

You can get US units to India with almost zero risk. You could perhaps hold Rangoon and he Andmans and even Northern Sumatra etc. etc. etc

Given the shortage of tankers, would it make sense for the Allied counterattack to focus on the DEI? If you capture one or two of the major fuel centers there, then your subsequent fuel shipping problems would be far less than before. Of course your opponent presumably knows this as well ...

More power to ya Lowpe.

I really don't harbor any animosity toward anyone, I just have a completely different perspective than many other regulars here.

Maybe players like me would be more satisfied with things if more Japanese players wanted this kind of challenge instead of constantly seeking for easy mode victories.

Allied players have lost CVs, massive territory, and some shipping. But not to this degree.
It will be an unique challenge as most Allied player will see this AAR and remember to garrison their major industrial cities with a division of troops.

Right now keeping "Fortress Timor" supported and a possible reinforcement of the Aleutians is high on mu list for the next few months.

Note: I see all the air groups I got, but was there a separate amount of just airframes that come in?

Just catching up here.

They've lost that much, just not so early.

It's CVEs remember, so not really critical. That said, I'd be more worried about their air groups (and are they listed as lost? Can you buy them back?). Those It's 1200+ airframes and (semi-)trained pilots you'll miss.

It is a challenge, but the allies have other ways of winning the war. I look forward to your plans. I think you'll need to play a lot of scrappy small-ball here. Fight in areas where you can island hop forever. Timor would be a good start. You've got to get a LOT more there though. Pile some of the Brit and Aussie troops on.

well, the good news is it seems the CVE air groups seem not to have been lost.

The point thingy is not really fair or realistic. Not one of those CVE's has even been started or perhaps even the designs been finished or the steel been shipped. There was a large existing shipyard at the start of the war and another Kaiser shipyard on the Willamette opened by early '42. What would really be lost is the infrastructure.

It seems they let you off easy on the TK losses.

In all, 2,711 Liberty ships were built from the nation’s shipyards between 1941 and 1945. Oregonship built 330 Liberty ships, along with 99 Victory ships and 33 Attack Transports. Once they are cancelled they are gone. It is not realistic as the work would have been sent to other yards that were not damaged and the yards would be re-built once recaptured.

Another example of how the game has a limited framework and is not very flexible with extreme scenario's. Not suggesting the game could be this flexible without an enormous amount of work for very few games that are played in this manner.

Guys,

This is a simulation of a war and is based on a 15 year old system. Unless they come up with AE3 and start from scratch, there will be limitations. I took up this PBEM due to them. How can the Allies overcome such a huge set back and still win the war? After playing WTIP/AE for over 13 years, this is a challenge to try. Like Lowpe in southern Cali as Japan, the Allies will have some obstacles to over come.

Not sure what you expect from the peanut gallery as you are a very competent player.

India can get fuel from Abadan in a CS so you could substitute a lot of very short legged cargo ships to handle the fuel instead of tankers. There is substantially less shipping to worry about keeping in fuel supply ~ 300 ships so the loss of the tankers is mediated somewhat.

Because of the current setup and your lack of escorts a push from Australia north through the DEI seems the best course of the war as you always have territory in range of LBA.

I'm having my doubts right now vs Nathan (njp72) as my ground forces in China and India keep getting crushed. I've made some mistakes in both theaters, so I just look at the twice monthly mega-reinforcements for a mini-morale booster.
