Guys - I feel like there is probably a simple answer here but I cant find it.

I want to create a scenario Barbarossa - Soviet Defensive Deployment i.e. to test the hypothesis that if the Soviets were not in the midst of a forward deployment for an attack in July/August (controversial), but instead focused on a defensive strategy of defending the "old" pre-1939 border, they would be a lot more successful as a) no element of surprise. b) more time to mobilise and meet the Germans in at least equal strength.

So all I really want to do is going into an existing scenario and move 300 units or so Soviet units to a line 300km back. But when I go into scenario editor I am unable to move a single unit with a mouse. I can do so by changing location coordinates for each unit - but obviously that is not possible to do for the entire Soviet Army. A click and move unit would make a lot more sense. But I cannot seem to be able to do that in the Editor either on Soviet or (after pressing W) German side.

What am I doing wrong here?

Best,

Not sure what the exact problem is, but if you want to move initial placement of Soviet units, you must make sure that human player is checked for the Soviets (even though you are in editor mode). To switch between set-up sides, use the w key. Soviet screen has brown UI info boxes, axis is blue-gray. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your response. This is the problem.

1. Both players set to human.
2. I open editor and load 1941-1945 v2600 scenario.
3. I go to edit screen and rename scenario as new one.
4. I go to the map, press w and try to move Soviet units by selecting them and right clicking on empty squares. Nothing happens. The units are not frozen and have movement points. Doesn't work with any unit or HQ or anything.

This is the latest version of the game. Any thoughts?

Are you remembering to save the new scenario after renaming?

If you can't post on forum yet, please send me a pm with screenshot attached.

Yes. Just tried that. Still cant move units around the map.

This is what I do:

1. Set both players to human.
2. Go to Editor
3. Load Scenario: 1941-1945 v2600
4. Rename it 1941-1945 Soviet Defensive
5. Save scenario
6. Go to Map - press W to switch to Soviet side
7. Try to move units around with a mouse... Nothing moves.

Any other ideas? How would you do this?

Okay. Make sure you are on the "Main" tab view when renaming and saving.

On Game Options dialog, make sure all FoW options are DEselected.

Yep. That works. Thank you very much!

MANUAL UPDATE: If you want to move units in the Scenario Editor make sure that in the main game options:
1. Both players are a set to human
2. All FOW options are deselected.

Best,
