I am pretty sure this is not possible, but I feel I need to ask anyway.
I have just realized that my Japanese opponent
switched the US Reliable Torpedoes to ON. Is there any method of setting it to OFF?

I asked this question before when I realized a few months into a PBEM that my Japanese opponent had set Allied DC off. I believe the answer at the time was that it is technically possible if you were to give your saves to one of the staff members, but they would refrain from doing so unless there were extraordinary circumstances.

That is what I remember also, and it was michaelm that did it and he is off doing other things, not sure if Bill Olsen could do it or not. We were about 11 turns in so we restarted.

If a setting change will fix it, the Japanese player must change his at the same time as the Allied player, because he starts the turn. No Allied player switches can take effect half way through, AFAIK.

But there are some settings that are cast in stone on the first turn of the game, like the Allied Damage Control Advantage or Reliable US Torpedoes or Player Defined Upgrades. I see no reason for sub ops to be locked in on the first turn setting but it is possible.

Logically, that one should be locked in when the first turn is run, just like PDU on or off.
