This is a brief AAR as I did not take notes along the way. So this is more of a recollection from memory.

Deploy all F-15s and F16-s to Andoya and Bardufoss, making sure the corresponding missile type is available in magazines. Deploying Typhoons useless because no Meteors available anywhere north.

Set up AEW and tanker pattern just west of Andoya.

Set Orions to provide sea control, and arm Poseidons with SLAM-ERs.
Arm all Tornados with ALARM II.

Use F-35s from QE in anti-air role every once in a while (too far away).

Move Storm MTB group to the south out of range of ASMs.

Meanwhile, use aircraft to jump in and out Russian SAM ranges to bleed off SAMs. Works with great success with land-based S-300 and ship-based don't know what. Works to a less extent against Foxgloves with their long range AAMs. Once Foxgloves are out of missiles, send F-15s after them on afterburners for a kill. Works reasonably well. Note that F-15s have longest-range missile, AMRAAM-D.

In 12 to 14 hours achieved air superiority.

Rearm some F-16s with Penguins, pull in ALARM-carrying Tornadoes in SEAD role and Poseidons with SLAM-ERs. Use all of this to kill 2x Nanuchka, kill western SAG centered around Admiral Nakhimov, and send some ALARMs towards Kuznetsov CV. Sent all aircraft back to reload (time was about 2days 4 hours to go). Meanwhile, sent Storm MTB group to fire missiles at Kuznetsov. Simultaneously launched 8x F16s with a total of 16 Penguins. That was not very effective in absence of ALARMs, but still got some hits on targets. BDA proved difficult due to cloud cover.

Fight off another round of Backfires (and Blackjacks? not sure really), this time easy because they had no escort and I had CAP ready. Kitchen-D is still a pain in the butt to intercept, moving at 2900 kts and only slowing down just before impact. Requires micromanaging every intercept.

My second wave of ALARMs and SLAMERs mostly cleans up the rest of the fleet, Petr Veliky still afloat with heavy damage and fire, and some stupid oiler completely intact. Half an hour later it sinks, leaving the oiler for my Penguins.

Score 6755 Triumph

Butcher bill as follows

Isn't this an hypotetical unit?

Didn't know that this series of scenarios was an AU, other ones (mediterranean tsunami was a blast) don't have anything like that.

Otherwise short but nice AAR, thanks.

Yes, I'd say hypothetical, but if not for these, there would have been a field day in my air-to-air department. These are very good for balance of play.

So I can fix that.

Been thinking of moving that group closer. Originally it was a 5 day scenario which I shortened.

BTW, recently discovered that the Russian Carrier is in the yard until 2021 or 2022. Oh well...

Yes it is but in theory the so Admiral Nakhimov is as well as there is no idea when, or IF, her conversion will ever be finished. Got to have a little fun

5 days is not going to make a difference, probably. The first strike mission is inbound right away, so F-35s will be late to the party anyway just by way of flying to where the action is.

Moving the carrier closer would be useful.

Yeah I've moved the CVBG closer that but This AAR is proving something I've been thinking for some time NATO has too many aircraft. The aircraft in England were not originally intended to reinforce Norway but to perform missions around the UK and in the real world it is likely the F-15E squadron would reinforce the Central Front along with the Typhoon squadron. So I'm thinking of pulling one U.S. and one UK squadron and just setting the others up to reinforce Norway from the start. Also thinking of dropping the E-3 Sentry's and KC-135's down to 4 each for the same reasons. With battle in the Baltic and Poland, Norway would be important but also peripheral.

Based on the AAR I totally reworked NATO!

1. Queen Elizabeth Carrier Group and Anzio Surface Action Group both moved forward. NATO Standing Forces are removed (committed to Baltic)
2. The Norwegians now have an F-35A Lightning II Squadron at Orland Fighter base and that is reflected in the scenario. The UK Typhoon squadron is gone (I decided they would more likely be committed to the Central/Baltic Front along with the two U.S. F-15 Squadrons).
3. UK Tornado Squadron now forward deployed to Andoya AFB, Norway for Naval Strikes. They still have their UK RAF Lossiemouth (EGQS) base in case someone needs to redeploy to UK for Naval missions and it is used for P-8 and P-3 aircraft.
4. Diversionary Field loadouts now set for LIMITED NATO support. You can support DETs but not whole Squadrons. Initial Dets are there for you.
5. NATO Submarines now Teleport for some randomness in the submarine war (will do the same for the Russians as well)
6. CAP missions will activate 15 minutes into the scenario with other missions beginning 30 minutes into the scenario. That will give people time to adjust things.
7. E-2 Sentry and KC-135 aircraft halved (other half to (Central/Baltic Front). Their bases are now Single Unit airfields for performance.

Some adjustments to Russia will be made but not as great...

Version 4.0 posted in the Playtesting thread. I think this is going to be it for updates to it.

Russian subs now teleport and reworked all of the NATO/Russian missions in addition to the changes in post above.
