DISCLAIMER:
You must have ATG version 2.27g or better to play.

It makes me very proud to be able to present to you the work that Bombur and I have been preparing over these last 2-3 years. At this moment the atzip you need to download to get the scenario/mod/game is in the VR Scenario bank. There is a link here:

http://www.vrdesigns.net/scenario.php?nr=280

You will have to register first if you haven't. You do this here:

http://www.vrdesigns.net/wp-login.php?action=register

I must also thank the user Ormand for his work with the graphics, that I am using. It is from his excellent random game scenario generator, that can be found here:

http://www.vrdesigns.net/scenario.php?nr=260

And don't forget his awesome graphics pack that can be found here:

http://www.vrdesigns.net/scenario.php?nr=259

I wish everyone a great experience playing the new game. Don't forget win or lose, it's all about having fun.

I've been playing computerized wargames since 1969 when I worked for the Navy and was invited to participate in a wargame at the Naval War College (NWC). Since I already had a high security clearance and KNEW the Director (Commanding Officer) who knew I played board wargames (anyone heard of Avalon Hill) when I was a kid. Never seen a game with the accuracy (both in unit and real time play--although this was not play it was training for command officers) of the NWC but they had MILLIONS of dollars to develop it. The best computer wargame concept was an old game for Atari computers where you planned your moves and than hit go and it moved all your units when you came across an enemy unit and had enough movement points left you could redirect units which had movement points left to change their paths. And even attack if you had the MP left. Did not have a lot of choices of unit types or size of battlefield but the movement of all units at the SAME time was awesome. And the AI logic was not great but coming across an enemy unit at the end of MP left you with no choices and a quick battle when the computer made it's move.

This comes very close to being the best scenario I've ever seen for one of the best wargames I've even seen. Much thanks to both development teams.

What kind of error?

You need to be careful how much stuff you run on your computer at the same time. If you run too much, it could run out of memory. If it does, please report it to Vic. If the error however is one that refers to a code line, please tell me.

Those are memory errors.

Next time, take a screenshot, and report it to Vic, along with the version number of your ATG patch (i.e. 227g), and your OS (i.e. Windows 7 32 bit).

We know there are some memory errors out there, and we want to squash them, but Vic is the only one able to do so. Therefore if you don't report it to him, then nothing can be done about them.

Also copy the text of the error message.

what happened to having each major regime having their own SFT image for added realism. Nice to see German units as WW1 doe boys. Seems the images are the same as the old version.

Some images are the same as those in GD1938 version 2. With 800+ equipment images, some corners had to be cut. Also, I tried looking for some pictures of rifle that were actually bolt action, for just Germans. I ended up with none. It was easy to find German troops, much harder to find them with exactly that equipment. Sorry for the fly in your soup.

Been playing a while and have only one major "complaint".

I think staff costs are still a bit out of alignment with "reality". China for example--It takes the entire production of a city to produce ONE staff (1000 point city) and that makes filling needed staff members a bit hard. Perhaps making a relatively inexpensive war college to produce staff would be possible. Or reducing the cost to that of most expensive infantry class (like Mortar3's or engineers).

Just to get this straight. You are asking for a reduction of price from 500 to 400 (China only has 50% production). Doesn't seem like a big price difference, so perhaps. But remember staff is not something you should throw away in attacks, or risk getting attacked. Reducing costs also make those kinds of actions more likely, as players would value them less.

Quick answer.

But the cost to China of staff is 1000 not 500 at the start and China cannot generate enough PP to increase efficiency since it is busy building combat units. I'll have to double check this but I think my memory of the cost is correct. If there is a version where the cost is less..I don't have it. We are using version 1.00.

OH and while I'm here. Occupational Tech increases production of minor conquered countries to 50% and major countries to 30%. which means a PP cost 3333 production points in a major country but only 2000 in a minor country. Why is this? Are the people in minor countries less loyal than the people in major counties? Or is this just a game (scenario) thing.

EDIT: I think version 3 is the best scenario I've seen for ATG.

no fly here, but it appears this is just an upgraded version of the original with fancy bells and whistles. My opinion take it or leave it, but if you are going to do this, would be nice to have major powers with their respective images, otherwise it's just a fancy new car without a radio.

German staff. Point being it would have taken a bit longer, but my opinion if it is to be done, do it where it will have a feel of WW2. Who wants a Japanese or German infantryman looking like a doe boy or a US marine.

This is not Staff, ... but lower level officers, on the front line. Staff is not on the frontline, but a more rear area troop type.

As you can probably see, there are a lot of different reasons why NOT to just use any old picture off of the internet. It has to have certain criteria it needs to fulfill.

They cost 500, and because Chinese economy is at 50%, not 100%, they cost twice.

This is actually something that was changed do to feedback from testers. You if I don't recall wrongly. There was some unhappiness about Occupation Tech only being able to be used for non-majors. So I changed it so there was, and as per the suggestion I did it so that it wasn't the same, but less.

It is also logical that they would not be as cooperative. Occupation tech increases the non-majors production from 25% to 50% both conquered and friendly minors alike. Now some of those would be friendly to you. Major country locations under your control are by definition not friendly. So there is your explanation.

seriously, the point being that you can use an image if you can't find the exact one which will come closest to it. You missed the whole point.

It's not a rifleman, more a sniper, and the gun is midwar, not prewar... makes it hard to use it as rifle I (bolt action) or rifle II (semiautomatic)...

I see your point. You just cannot seem to see mine. I want accuracy, in one way, you want it in another way. That is all this is.

Before you fill this post with pictures you think SHOULD be used, remember that I need 7 for each rifle type (one for each regime that is not already represented), 7 SMGs for both levels, and 7 Cavalry for both levels, 7 HMGs and 7 times two General Purpose Machineguns.

Now I am working on assembling those pictures, but trust me, it is hard. Just you try to find a SMG I (pre world war II) for Italy or Japan. When you are done with that, start out with the cavalry. :)
