I am playing the WW3 campaign game, just started, and was wondering what are the victory conditions for the WW3 Campaign. I have never played it before and it looks interesting. Any info out there on the conditions and strategy?
Thanks

Glad your playing WWIIII1946. Is that what you mean by WW3? If so...

I was just about to release version 3.0 when the update to SC3 1.15 came out. I am running a few test games now to make sure that the campaign works correctly. If you wait a few more days it will be live if all goes well.

• possible NATO strategies

• Look at the Pyrenees mountains. There is already some fortress there plus your engineers for the US and UK can build them very fast. The Joint Chiefs of Staff’s historic plan, Pincher, was to retreat to the Pyrenees as fast as possible, dig in and hold on until we nuked em to death. Unfortunately, the nukes have been sabotaged. In real life we only had 4 in May of 1946 anyway, but the JCS didn't know that. Not even Truman knew... but Stalin did.
Cha
• There are mountains that you can entrench times 8.

• Try and hold on to Sicily. That was another priority for the US JCS.

• Starting in January you will start getting tons of units and some extra MPPs which represent the mothballed amphibious equipment left behind in the Pacific. Start looking for places to hit the USSR hard with D-day size invasions one after another.

• Watch the diplomatic reports for Turkey and Spain. You should be making strong progress towards their entry as your allies.

• You should be getting some more Strategic Bombers. Use Turkish bases to bomb the oil fields and mines around the Black Sea. They are huge MPP producers for Stalin.

• You will also be getting some Nukes in January. Get the units to Egypt and they will set off a script that will devastate the Soviet oil production facilities. It's a onetime shot so take advantage of it. Every turn they stay will set off another script that will represent radiation hampering repairs.

• If the Freedom Forces can stay alive they will keep getting stronger and stronger with bigger and better units coming their way. Try and keep those their territories in your possession because that is where the units will appear.

• The Soviets have developed a guided SAM. Avoid they with your bombers. They are few and far between but if you run into them with a Strategic Bomber unit you will probably lose the bomber.

• There are more weapons to come based on the Wasserfall or V4 rocket and the X4 AAM so be aware of that fact.

• The Seehund MSS is a mini submarine. It is hard to destroy. They are mainly a nuisance unless they get loose into your convoy lanes. In addition, they take down transports and invasion craft very quickly. Take them out whenever you can.

Possible Comintern Strategies

• Run the table in Europe early as well as Greece, Italy.
• Take both Gibraltar and Suez Canal and close the Mediterranean Sea.
• The head towards the Mideast and Kuwait via Persia
• Guard your oil fields around the Black Sea
• Take Turkey at your leisure but take it.
• You have some very good units to use
o MSS or Seahund min-sub. They are cheap and effective.
 Take Denmark and get them out into the Atlantic as raiders
o The Wasserfall anti-air missile is devastating to Strategic bombers. They have a range of 3 hexes. Spread them out.
o MB or Missile Boats. These are freighters refitted to launch the Wasserfall Anti-ship missile. They are slow and very fragile but deadly to surface ships. They have a range of 10 hexes
o You will be getting an ASM or rail based anti-ship missile with a range of 10 hexes. Use them.

• NATO’s has two big advantages. It’s Navy and Air forces
o Use the MSS, ASM and MB to keep their navy honest and to stop invasions.
o Use fighters and the Wasserfall SAM to keep the Strategic bombers at bay.

• NATO will be getting 4 Nukes in January. If they reach Egypt, they will trigger scripts that will simulate nuclear strikes.

• If the Freedom Forces can stay alive they will keep getting stronger and stronger with bigger and better units coming their way.
o Do not upgrade the NKVD units and use them to take on the FF units. They have been specially designed to deal with insurgents.
 FF represent local guerrillas and rebels. They are a great threat if not dealt with. Stalin was hated by millions of his own people and they will turn on him if given the chance.

Yes, that's the one I just started in a mp game. Thanks for the info. Will I have to start a new game with the update? Or can I continue the game from before the update?

where can I get the new file that has fixed conditions? WORLD WAR III one
SAw today the the text for the BEF to go to FRance has 1939 as date rather than 1946
also the USA naval groups that start out bottom left hand map at kickoff
are hard to get to as the overlay for terrain type obscures them had to cycle through ,
noted on med zoom view out the icons get mixed up USA naval battleships look like the russian mini subs sometimes for whatever reason Icon wise
I attacked on turn 2-3 Russian mini sub with no less that 16-20 attacks from USA naval vessels early, around Denmark and Ruskie mini sub did not even take 1 hit!!
evaded all attacks and dished out hurt to multiple USA units,
what happened to the USA armour? did they are get sold or something at Kickoff?
thinking the USA had some armour but will defer to you expertise on the matter in 1946
thanks for all the hard work to make this scenerio
Joe

You can download version 3.0 here

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4528140

Date of 1939 doesn't matter as long as its before May 2nd, 1946. I should have changed these but they work just fine.
Sorry about the naval units. They represent the US far flung navy in 1946. Ships in the Pacific, Indian Ocean etc.
I'll look into the zoom out view. Can't imagine that it would happen only some of the time.
The mini-subs represent the almost impossible to detect Seehund. They were developed late in the war and produced by the hundreds. The ones that got launched were mostly sunk by bad weather and not by enemy action. They are a little bit easier to hit in 3.0 but not much.
The US had demobilized like crazy by May, 1946. Many of their tanks were left in huge storage depots all over France and Germany. They were maintained and guarded by former German soldiers believe it or not. The occupation forces in Germany in 1946 were untrained recruits who could barely clean their teeth much less drive a tank. 99% of the veterans were back in the states by May of 1946. Ike did an incredible job of bringing the boys home which left Europe virtually unguarded. All those tanks we had at the end of WW2 in Germany were mothballed and would have ended up in Soviet hands.

Stalin kept the best of the best. The only good career with perks and enough food for you and your family was the military. The Soviets had 60 crack divisions on the Western front in May of 1946. They were ready to go and loaded for Eagle. His people were restless, hungry and outside of the military largely unemployed. As western leaders have found out, the best way to keep your idle people occupied is to start a war or create an enemy. An enemy that is at your doorstep and whining about being hungry etc. is unpatriotic.

See the attached article about some massive manuvers that could have been a prelude to an all out attack. The west did nothing to prepare for fear of provoking Stalin.
