In discussions with another work colleague (and CMANO friend) about modern militaries, I thought of a situation I think would make a great sandbox scenario. Said colleague is very focused on NATO vs. Russia type situations whereas I am more of a "Chains of War" style West-pac non China vs China type. After some healthy debate it got me thinking: -NATO vs. Indo-Pacific Defensive "alliance" -Navy focused, no US involvement for balance -Location/objectives indeterminate (I'm not creative about this) beyond a simple "wargame" briefing Basically I'm thinking like UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Dutch, and other NATO European Navies capable of fielding something quasi-expeditionary vs. Japan (assume Izumo class gets 10x F-35B), South Korea, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and India. Limited land based aviation support (enough for balance purposes so a few squadrons of land based fighters + MPA/AEW/Tankers as required). Essentially what I'm thinking of is like the Spratly Island Sprat DLC on a larger scale. I know this is vague but I have no real scenario creation experience and don't think I could do it justice. I'm hoping this idea might inspire someone, or at least lead to collaboration. The hypothesis I gave my colleague was that the Indo-pacific forces as they exist now would beat NATOs naval forces, but I am stuck at just that starting point.
