The battle along the river line from Robertville to Trois Ponts has been very fluid. I have had some success and am threatening the capture of Trois Ponts today, but I have lost the bridgehead at Malmedy.

Further West, I was successful in the destruction of the two plus Regts of the 3rd Armd Div. I did not make much headway against the elements of 30th Inf and VII Corps.

Today, I would like to advance out out of Malmedy, capture Trois Ponts and continue the push towards Stoumont.

A couple of surprising observations in this sector – my troops in the area around Stavelot are supplied – not sure how. While the Americans (82nd AB) South of Trois Ponts are not getting supplies – which I think they should be.

This continues to be a fun sector.

It looks like there is a gap north of those units [leading to Spa] thru which supplies can flow [if linked to another gap somewhere on the map].

Because those units are surrounded by enemy zoc's and badlands, I think.

Steve,

It must be a very weird and long path for my units near Stavelot - they are not getting much supply though. As for the 82 AB, I think you are correct, my zoc's and the badlands will be preventing resupply.

Thanks for the input.

Have a good day,

The situation on my southern flank. I know that I have units farther South, but they have not be activated yet. The Americans are trying to get me to activate them by launching attacks East of Luxembourg. The attacks have not caused me enough issues to trigger activation. In fact, I like that the 4th (US) Armd is engaging in that sector.

The battles around Malmedy continue to be fierce. Where possible I will rest units today, I have some units that really need a break.

Starting in the SW corner, I will use 9 Pz to freeze 3rd Armd. This US division has lost two regiments, but is still a force. I like it where it is, so I can let 9 Pz take a break while holding the units in place.

H Goring Division is going to head North towards Combain au Pont. From there, they can head towards Aywaille, which will cut the supply lines to all the Americans South of the Ambleve R.

9 Pz and 2 SS will rest for the most part. 12 SS will swing West of 9 Pz and then follow H Goring North.

15 Pz Gren will continue to push North, taking out some more of the 82nd.

130 Pz lehr will try to grab Trois Ponts. If I can achieve that, I will start swinging 116 Pz towards Spa.

Elements of 3 Pz Gren, 2 Pz and 116 Pz will try to push the Americans back around Malmedy.

Although I would love to hit the 101st hard again, this morning is going to be a rest day – for the most part.

I will tweak the defence in front of Bastogne, but otherwise entrench and rest a little.

Along the Sure R, I will continue to dig in and rest. It is time to bring back the units South of the River.

In the East, 5 and 7 FJD will dig in some more. The lead elements of an American division is heading North on the South edge of the map. I need to be ready for their arrival.

The situation North of Elsenborn. If the Americans do not react soon, another large pocket may be created.

The fighting around Malmedy continues to be fierce. I had pushed 3 Pz Gren into the battle in the morning and they found it so hard, they are reorganizing this afternoon.

I am close to completing a pocket around the American forces South of the Ambleve R. This should be closed this afternoon.

In the SW, the remnants of the 3rd Armd has been very effective attacking my forces South of Hotten.

Another US Division has been spotted moving forward. They are likely to arrive this afternoon or early in the morning. I need to be ready for their arrival.

9 SSPz will withdraw to La Roche from their positions West of the town. 25 Pz Gren will move West towards this area to act as a reserve in case the Americans break through here.

H Goring Div will provide flank protection to the West – entrenching along the rivers.

12 SS Pz div will push to Aywaille. This will complete the encirclement.

9 Pz, 2 SS Pz 15 Pz Gren and the VGDs in the area, will pressure the Americans in front of them. I want to start their destruction.

I also want to use 2 Pz to enlargen the bridgehead at Malmedy. 10 SS is moving North to enter the battle tomorrow.

It has been 48 hours since the last detailed view of this part of the battlefield. I have managed to destroy the majority of a couple of American divisions and have pushed to the outskirts of Aachen.

I have also been able to seize Duren and a bit of a bridgehead here.

The Allied response has been late coming, but it has started to show now. This morning, the Brits started attacking in the North and elements of at least three divisions cans be seen around Maastricht.

Up to now, I have been trying to exploit by pushing down the river and surrounding the Americans against the river.

I think it is time to switch this and head to Aachen. With a push from the South, I may be able to create a really large pocket. I can use the VGDs on the East side of the pokcet and the GR Deuts on the West. If I can get into Aachen, I can defend along the ridge/improved position for a bit.

It will be interesting to see if that Brit group comes East or goes South.

The bridgehead over the Robertville-Malmedy-Trois Ponts river/line has expanded slowly over the last few days. The American have thrown lots of units into the fray, slowing down my advance, but not stopping it.

Meanwhile to the West, good initiative by some divisional commanders allowed me to grab some crossing points over the Meuse River, just before the Allies arrived. The 2nd Armd Div is near Huy and the Brits and elements of the 5th Armd Div are near Liege. The 5th Armd div is very spread out, with some elements near Aachen off to the East.

As is shown in the picture in the top right corner, in one case, a regimental commander was a little too happy to chase a supply dump and has now been cut off North of Liege. I should not have allowed the unit to follow the supply dump. Oh well.

This afternoon, I want to build up my defences along the Meuse River. I do not need to push past it at the moment, but I need to hold it. I do not know where the Brits are going and I’m a little overextended here, so I need to regroup. I will also start moving two SS divisions into the area.

I’m going to picket the American units cut off in the Stoumont area – freeing up some more units to move West.

South of Verviers, I have almost completed the destruction of the American units on the West side of their defence line – I did destroy a Corps HQ unit this morning. I want the units there to start moving towards Verivers, creating a pocket in the SE corner of the map. I will also be pushing towards Eupen.

These moves, should free up some more of my units to head towards Liege.

A great result from South of Bastogne. This came after a supply depot easily turned back one of my Pz regiments.
