To apply, unzip to the installation folder and overwrite the existing Command.exe .

This is a hotfix release, to address the AA-9 launch & guidance issues described here: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4541243

But I suspect this is also an example of a wargame that is actually making decent money for its designers and publisher. Sad many other great wargames are forced to struggle

While it is not available through the Steam auto-updater (or the Matrix auto-updater for that matter), unzipping the .12 executable into the Steam install directory does work.

Edit - As of October 16, the 998.12 hotfix is available through Steam. I presume it is now also available through the Matrix auto-updater.

Yes it was, along with the fix for Kuril Sunrise.
