I got a partial list for the early war availability for Allied fighters, but now see both the 1st gen Corsair and P-47s don't have them. When do I get the much needed drop tanks?

I looked in Editor, but I guess I didn't see where that info was. Is it listed there?

Comprehensive list:
Please furnish models and dates, please.

Pulling up the editor and loading stock scenario 1, I see that Aircraft ID 349 (P-47D2 Thunderbolt) has device ID 1958 (200 gal Drop Tank) in slot 9. [I expect that slot 9 is designated in the code to contain the drop tank and that slot 10 is for the engine].

Slot 9 indicates that the drop tank is quantity 1 and located on the center line. The filter value is 0. Per my limited understanding of the editor, the "filter" would be used to selectively enable or disable the device based on mission.

Over on the right hand side there is an interesting field: "Date DT Active" reading 4307.

However, it is conceivable that in addition to a drop tank active date for the airframe, there is a drop tank availability date for the device. Let us look for that.

Device ID 1958 named "200 gal Drop Tank" has an "X" in the "Active Column. It lists an availability date of 4112 and an effect of 200.

Historical factoid...All of the original P 47's to arrive in Australia were expected to have fuel/range problems, so Ford of Australia was contracted to produce a version of the same tanks used on the earlier P-38 fighters.
The P-47's tanks were bolted to the planes and were NOT drop type tanks.
The tanks are the 75 gallon tanks x2, (one per wing, fixed near the fuselage originally.)

Well the pilot CAN drop the tanks if he just bails out when he sees enemy fighters ...

The first time I learned of those "non-jettisonable" tanks, I wondered the same thing, and no matter how hard I looked, I never did find if they even had a provision to "dump" that extra fuel.
The very first three P 47 squadrons to arrive in Oz were all given those custom tanks before they ever went on missions, so they were effectively a "mod" of their own, and not a "stock" P47 at all.
In fact, some were P47c's which were upgraded in the field to P47D standards.
