If you want more go WDS blog (last entry is about PzB-NA41 with some images from notes PDF).

http://www.wargamedesignstudio.com/

And in "The Sharp Gaming" in last days were posted 3 good AARs Sidi Barrani-Tobruk 4/30/41-Heraklion (and maybe 1 or 2 more coming)

Dont worry, next year, first half, you can enjoy a new napoleonic title... Friedland

I wait Peninsular war to close my interest in nap series.

Out of this looks like more PzB titles are going to be delayed after release of PzB-NA41 because they want focus in Gold version of west PzC and set ACW titles to the last released standar before start working in PzB4... apart this i remember read months about about update other series in JT catalog (Seven years war looks like the standar for the pre WWI series).

Only way to see a discount in JT shop is or buy the discounted titles (25%) or do a megabuy of 200$ to have a 20% discount (basically buy 5 normal price titles and you have 5th for free).

Yep, to be fair Africa titles in PzC for example are easier to understand because are less "saturate" and there is more open terrain to help focus player attention in the terrain with something special, in demo you can notice this in the Africa scen.

Maybe the only negative thing i find in PzB art is find mines-improve/trench/bunker/pillbox and well another small problem is not see SS in black and army in grey... but is relative easy solve this at least for me and my franken mods hehehe.

Apart this maybe PzB-NA41 could benefict to from round counter mod.

PzB-NA41 is going to be a great add to the serie

New entry in the blog.

They show the game notes for all Compass scens, they have a map and over it a square to show the combat area for every scen, you have to ability to see the scen briefing + some pics as ambientation to the scens

I've played quite a bit of the Panzer Campaigns games and enjoyed them, but have avoided these Panzer Battles games so far...at this scale, I think I prefer the Campaign Series...has anyone played both to compare?

Well, i play both and in the base they are very similar, for me the strong point in Campaign series is in the better modeled armored combat, in PzB is a little obscure and sometimes feels a little random BUT PzB is better in the infantry combat because unit strenght is based in number of soldiers and units suffer casualties in a less abstract mode apart that PzB model fatigue and units lose combat efficiency in a better way for my taste.

In general i find PzB better if you like something more historical because OOBs are very good, for me more inmersive compared with Campaign serie and well i find easier manage formations and keep things under control.

If you want you can try demo you only need create an account in Tiller Shop and download it for free, is a good demo with a nice selection of scens, even come with a scen for the Pacific area as test (used a smaller size of hex, 125m VS 250m) maybe not the most exciting battle but the Hannut scen is a real challenge as German.

May 1940;Belgium - Battle of Hannut 2 scenarios
March 1941;North Africa – Mersa el Brega 4 scenarios
August 1942;Guadalcanal – Tenaru River 2 scenarios
July 1943;Russia – Klyuchi (Getting Started) 1 scenario
August 1943;Russia - Bogodukhov 4 scenarios

Personally I wish they had been given Squad Battles code and added the wanted features etc making it the best turn based tactical wargames by a long way

Is curious but SB was allways the serie i like less from the best know JT titles... only the Ancient games are less intresting for me.

Returning to PzB-NA41 is going to be maybe the wargame i see with more cover to the 1940-early 1941 battles in North Africa... only now east campaign is going to stay in the dark zone

For me SB has all the features tactical gamers want like every man counted.

My main gripe is the running out of ammo mechanic which quickly turns an MG42 into a pea shooter. Plus no multi level buildings. Add or redo these aspects would get me excited. Third is more detail to armour mechanics.

PBEM if you enjoy that I think the series is easy the best turn based tactical game out there.

Great range of titles aswell.

The games create great narrative for WARs

hmmm, I've never played any of the SB series, I think that the lack of multistory buildings was a deal breaker for me. I'm hoping that the upcoming Steel Tigers will fill a gap at this level, but I could be wrong...

perhaps it was just wishful thinking on my part, but I thought there was a mod/patch that modified the running out of ammo mechanic.

Perhaps one of the more knowledgeable guys out there will comment.

Thanks

With almost 14,000 posts, you may be the most knowledgeable out there.

Only thing I seriously dislike about JTS is the Civil War and Napoleonic campaign system that generates huge battles you couldn't hope to finish unless you devote all your time to it. Frankly, there are much better games to take up my limited time.

I think (and hope) that the upcoming Armored Brigade will outshine many other JTS titles that are still basically stuck in the 1990s.

New entry in kriegsimulation blog, is the continuation of previoud video AAR but now in a more classic style.

http://kriegsimulation.blogspot.com/2018/10/battles-of-north-africa-1941-fighting.html

Tiller game maybe are stuck in 90s but true is that i dont find today modern turn based titles with the detail in OOBs and the ability to be work as "interactive map" when you are reading a book and wnat see words in images.

If we talk about 90s maybe was the best moment for turn wargames with titles that today are very superior to modern titles (if you compare "Achtung Spitfire" with "Check your 6" is a clear example) or titles that today simple lacks a modern version ("Age of rifles", "Steel panthers"...) the only example i know about a 90s title with a at least as good modern version is "Panzer General" "Panzer Corps" and TOAW.

AB is going to be a great title but for me "Close Combat" is still better at pure tactical and in superior levels the sandbox system made i find games like Tiller with historical OOBs more attractive, i dont see AB is a bad title but is not one to sustitue for me certain JTS titles, is diferent and this is good.

I agree except for Close Combat. I have them all and it is more of the same under a different wrapper. I don't do MP, and single-player vs the AI is just not fun or realistic at all. I give the series points on modding though, which is the only reason I buy them. Actually, my favorite CC title is Modern Tactics.

Well, in tactical wargames i prefer see soldier+weapon with the specific weapon ammo and ability to use dead soldiers/enemy weapons... i still remember how in DOD change game totally from non Steam version to Steam version because when Steam release the game you can pick weapons from battlefield... its a shooter but this kind of things add a very tactical combat impresion when you play.

Returning to PzB-NA41 lets see if we have luck and its a 2018 release and we can enjoy game in holidays... problem is going to be how divide time between all the good titles comming, old titles and wifes-girlfriends...

Yes, my hopes include Armored Brigade and Combat Mission Shock Force 2. Only $35 to upgrade the old game package of CMSF1 and all DLC which I no longer play.

Fair play, so I gently posted the link to AB on the Battlefront site, so we'll see if I get roasted. Most people would want both games.

And I assume that's "wifes or girlfriends"

ah, you don't want to equate quantity with knowledge - perhaps I just ask a lot of questions?, or worse, give lots of BAD information!
