INVADED
Paoshan, Mengtze, Urumchi are invested.

CHANGED OWNERSHIP

Overall
• No carrier sightings. Sqn Ryujo-1 in action near Katherine.

• Strategically I would like to get some 4EB groups operating from India into China, but that seems distant at the moment. Our pools of 4EB are low and attrition is high in NW Australia, a fact which I am sure suits the Empire.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
• Enemy sub activity near Pearl Harbor, San Francisco, Los Angeles.

• All convoys report no contacts.

• 5 days until Hornet is on line, 26 days for Lexington and Saratoga.

Pacific
• Enemy sub activity near Pago Pago.

• All convoys report no contacts.

New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain
• Enemy sub activity near Brisbane.

• All convoys report no contacts.

• Fuel unloading at Melourne.

• They are intent on slowing our movement but it is too late.

• So far Ledo is back over 16,700 supply after stopping fort construction and moving out many engineer and base units. Looking for that 20,000 mark so a number of dwindling units can take replacements to get full supply movement into China moving again without moving the units to Calcutta and losing event more transport time.

• 2nd British Div has formed from its components at Bombay and will move to Jorhat, as will an RAF base force. They will bolster air base building and support to prepare for 4EB. Two AA units are moving there for defense. When Chittagong makes fortification level 5 (presently 4+83%) dedicated engineer units will move from there to Jorhat.

I have not had a chance to read back a dozen posts or so but will shortly. I commend you on the central Australia front given the
difficult supply conditions there. I tried something similar but was repulsed. It was before the Aussie armor units refitted.

I have found that Ledo can draw supply better if the bases on the rail line leading back to Calcutta are all built a few levels higher. The supply usage during construction should also help draw supply up the line, with some assistance from the supply draw button. When all the bases have reached about AF 4 the supply should flow just fine without player intervention. This assumes Calcuttta itself is flush with supply.

I think the 4EB commitment is a key component too. They can slow the Imperial units and thereby maintain the movement advantage of the Allied armor.

1942 August 11

INVADED
Paoshan, Mengtze, Urumchi are invested.

CHANGED OWNERSHIP

Overall
• No carrier sightings.

• Further deployments are planned to forestall any attempts at January auto-victory by the dastardly Imperials. Noumea will be garrisoned by at least two US infantry divisions; Suva's garrison will be strengthened; Palmyra will receive a garrison to prevent a quick grab. There are more USA and USMC units than that available and more will come before the end of the year.

China will be a big point gain for the Empire so we will do our best to minimize that while defending and, eventually, withdrawing into the mountains. Overcoming the Chungking plain will also free up substantial Imperial forces for adventures, so we must hold as long as possible.

I will bring additional UA units to Australia to prevent quick grabs by substantial forces of point rich bases.

India is pretty stout but a large-force grab for a single point rich base would be tough. Trincomalee is somewhat point rich but we would be hard pressed to bolster defenses there without weakening defenses of Colombo, which is currently so strong it is an invasion trap.

SigInt has shown no reinforcement of the Marshall Islands. Why? The Empire is building a stouter defensive line farther back. The Empire considers the loss of the Marshall Islands unavoidable. What does the Empire plan for the Marshall Islands? My best guess is a carrier battleground. We will go in again, and (again) with the Entire fleet as available at the time. Even a 2 to 1 loss in VP will be a gain from the standpoint of VP ratio.

• Further deployments are planned to forestall any attempts at January auto-victory by the dastardly Imperials. Noumea will be garrisoned by at least two US infantry divisions

May I ask, why two whole divisions? Isn't that an overkill?

Noumea is a good place to have troops prepping for future ops, and to prevent a base with a huge VP multiplier from falling. Gotta take a stand somewhere.

A slight correction: in looking at the stacking limit at Noumea the two division will not both be there except in the event of Imperial invasion. One will be at Koumac, directly adjacent.

Yes, two divisions! All that BB says is true, with my emphasis being on stopping any attempt at an auto-victory grab. With only one division there we could easily lose the base and the division plus supporting units. With two divisions plus supporting units we have a much better chance at holding the base. The division assigned to Noumea is a USMC division and so quite stout. Plenty of supporting units are going in to build the fortifications and base rapidly, which will provide support to a USN carrier counter-strike opposing an invasion.

China will yield the Empire a bucket load of VP, so come end of '42 the Emperor might be tempted to make a dash for some high VP properties. Even though he can come with everything if he wishes, we have made the high value properties in India hard targets. Plus if the IJN commits to the Indian Ocean Cantankerous Olfactory can proceed practically carefree. BTW, SigInt continues to show the Empire making *no* reinforcement of the target areas!

I really like the fact you have KB screwing around off Darwin. Perhaps another shot in CenPac now?

I doubt any of the fleet carriers are really there, just erroneous reports. I haven't seen any squadron sightings of fleet carrier squadrons there, for one thing.

• So the 'rescue unit' our tanks are bearing down on is the 21st/A Division and we shall destroy it as rapidly as possible.

• Recon shows the enemy unit across the river (1 hex) from Katherine as 49 AFV and nothing else. The Empire has no DL on Katherine and might not know what we have there. Our tanks in Katherine should be able to hold. Once the 21st/A Division is destroyed our forces so engaged will turn on this target.

I seem to recall Chinese Cavalry Corps doing very well (for Chinese early on). Perhaps they have better morale and experience?

Ah, the 41st Division will make another appearance.

I am flying supplies into Tennant Creek with medium bombers. I have built the airfield and fortifications some, but of course doing much of that eats supply too. Beyond Tennant Creek the bases show red. Units in the field are getting 'enough' supply to operate but they are not exactly operating black markets.
