Thank you, Gamer

in the unit details you will see it describes the unit as either "motorized" or "non-motorized" - if the former arm, if the latter inf

Basically, German cavalry is motorized and Russian and Axis Minor cavalry is non-motorized. I think later in the game, Russian cavalry moves over to being motorized.

I have not checked later in the most recent patches - but understood 1st Cavalry does now start as motorised and leave that way - but the 8SS Cavalry that will be for the long game I assume remains unmotorised? The Italian cavalry motorise at the end of first blizzard.

Ah, thanks, didn't know about 8 SS Cav. Makes sense, though. They were not really a combat unit but instead chasing partisans and Jews back in the rear. I would have given them a security NATO symbol instead of the cav symbol.

Absolutely true! As it is with the game as it is now I will usually have it under Model's corps HQ as one of my best units on the main axis of my 1942 advance. Perhaps worth looking again at the game data or a house rule?

I take it the motorized/ non-motorized works for all units as well as cavalry. So really the two ratings should be called motorized and non-motorized - not arm and inf.
