Logistics
May 1944
Germans (you) vs Russia (me)
10,200 points.
100X100 Map
Visibility 20
2 platoons of infiltrators
No pre-laid mines
10 % artillary max
Map 100X100, woods and hills.

Not much on turn one. Bad guys (Germans-that have gone Berserk) have sent a lot of smoke toward the Good Guys (Russians-that are busy counting there Beans). A MC that got board of counting ran up to the top of a hill and what did I see a whole bunch of panthers and Mechnized infantry. Scaried, he quickly retreats and pops smoke.

Bean Counter 1...... Berserkers 0

That is right folks with SS, engineers, Stug's and Panthers all within range of T-34's, Quad 50 AA's and Russian Guards it was to much of a target not to take. The Germans decided to rush the line and have paid a heavy price.
Realling from a well placed bombardment the poor demoralized German forces all but collapsed under the combined assualts of the Russians. Totall tally was the Germans lost about a Company of Mechnized Infantry and a Platoon of tanks.

OUCH!!! What did the Russians lose, well I will leave that up to my good friend Berserk to tell you.

Well, to make a long story short this turn was about regrouping. :(

The SO assault using infantry and light AT vehicles is classic and would have been a delight to watch had it not been for the hurt.

Well the Germans went totally defensive this turn, and it helped

Score now Russians 2 and Germans .5. :)

Russians try to push forward and take advantage of their viscous blow last turn, only to run into hordes of Panther G's and 88's in over watch. After killing one Stug and losing a couple of T34/85's the Russian forces concentrated on the soft targets wiping out a platoon of 88's with Quad 50 hell. Many other soft targets fell along with a number of recon units that were actually behind the main line of troops?

I do not think that you need to buy any tips from me. :)
What I think is that B had not heard of the reputation of my Russian OOB. :)
He made a mistake by rushing a number of his units forward and leaving them out in the open to be taken advantage of. A mistake I do not think he will repeat.

The Germans are slowly getting their act together and takea definete win in this one.

One the score is a T-35/85, a SU-57, another SU-57 lamed an AT-Gun destroyed and a SU-152 severly chewed up.

In addition a few soft targets including some partisans are rounded up and dealt with in our customary way.

In terms of losses None, Nada, Zilt, Rien :D

Beancounter; do your math

The fail of the engeneers in the South when they in turn failed their attacks on the TS-35s and the excellent russian combination of arms has forced the German army to take exceptional risk in trying to recover the situation. The next turn will show if the SO forces will understand to levy the situation. :p

D..n that I accepted the fine print. Reinforcements could have balanced my forces again. Speaking about fine print: did I see a 120 scoot and shoot

B. I think I must have confused you, I appologize. The move and shoot has to do with Heavy AA. What I mean by this is that you can start the turn with an 88mm Flak in a truck, move the truck to the top of a hill unload it and shot with it. Pick it up again move it to another location and unload it and shot again. The Heavy AA only loses one shot per every unload.

This is unlike ATG's that as soon as they move or as soon as they are loaded they lose all of there shots.

This little house rule does not prevent someone from firing all of there shots and then moving the AA or ATG to a new location though. This is perfectly exceptable and expected.

As for the 120, it also loses all of its shots once it moves or is lumbered, it can how-ever fire smoke rounds at a hex. If you would like me to avoid this tactic in the future I will, but it is a common tactic here on the forum. Your call.

Sorry for the confusion and I hope this clears up any that is left. :)

Gary,

Thanks for your explanation. It takes s little effort to get into all the rules and regulations here. :)

It is good playing you. Not only do I learn a thing or two from watching, but you also readily share your experience. A true Comarade in arms.

I definetly do not want you to change your playing style. Keep trucking. :D

I just wanted to make sure we were both on the same page.

The Berserker was true to his name and again charged back in attacking with everything he had available. Did some damage, but not enough to stall the attack in the south. Four more tanks die and anthor Panther imobilized. I will teach you not to leave your tanks out in the open. :o

The Bean Counter 3 --- Berserker 1

A note to future opponents of B. He is very good with his artillary mangement. Like most good players he has almost all of his artillary come in on a .4 delay to get the most out of its shock value and to retreat and route his opponents units. He also concentrate it to only one or two areas. Again a very effective use of combined arms. He will be a very good opponent once he learns all the little in's and out's of the game. :D

As much as we can agrre that it is not necessarily prudent to leave the tanks out in the open, only a bold move will win this one back.

Nothing much happened this turn, and now lets see if the bean counter can do a finish or will have to go another round. :D

Ice cold milk and an infiltrator,
poping up right next to the Head Quarters,
Makes a Bean Counter happy with hand grenades,
As he wipes out the HQ and the Forward Observer,
taking all of VH hoping for a win
but much to his chagrin the game continues on.

Bean Counter - 6 Berserker - 3

B had a pretty good turn with oppertunity fires but still left a number of AFV's out in the open and I was able to isolate a number of them and destory them. As six more AFV's fall to the Red Tide. The South is looking grim as Russian Guards use the woods and smoke to advance, to get up close and personal with Panthers, Stugs, and flame tanks. Unfortunetly one Flame tank just would not stay suppressed and recieved about 6 special oppertunity fires. Ouch. :(

Made a mistake!!!

Did not think straight. Was not aware. Totally uncool.

This is my second PBEM and I did not think that your taking all the victory hexes with your MCs would end the game.

I was just having fun killing of your infiltrators and MC, including a few AT-Guns and never thought about recapturing right away.

OK -- agreed you spanked me pretty bad in this game, and there is no way I could have made even a draw.

BUT I NEVER GOT TO USE MY TIGERS AND MY ELEPHANTS :( :(

And I was really learning and enjoying so much :)

Whenever you are ready, I would like to play you again and I promish not to use all the good tips that you send against you ;) And I definetely will not allow the game to end so miserably.

Thanks for the game and a good spank. :)

B, isn't it fun to humbled by a veteran?
I also learned the hard way that if you lose your A0, and your opponent takes all of the VH's , it's goodbye you!

You do not automatically lose if all the VH are taken or if you lose your HQ.

The way the game works is if you lose all your VH and your HQ fails a moral check the game ends. Since you did not have a HQ you could not make a moral check and thus the game ended.

Funny if you had just taken one of the VH's back the game would have continued.

You could always reload and we could continue if you would like or we could just start another. Your call. Let me know.

Good game. Was fun.

Remember that the big fish are much easier to see so we have to be sneakier. :D
