"The japanese photographer Susumu Tomomatsu found himself at the southern Chinese front between 1939 and 1940. He also accompanied Japanese troops in 1942 when they landed in Java, Indonesia. Shortly before the end of World War II, Tomomatsu was drafted into the military and sent to northeastern China. He was also held as a prisoner of war in Siberia."
He died recently at 102 and his family "came across the albums containing the "classified" war photos."

The photos didn't age well, could use some restoration.

It looks like a U.S. B-17E is among the wrecked planes in photo 3. Rare image.

The plane in the center seems to be a Percival Proctor.
See picture here :

The tail seems to be a B-10 Glenn Martin from the KNIL. The tail number M-580 was destroyed in Feb 42 at Kalidjati.

Thanks Skyland. I didn't know the Proctor. Everyday you can learn a new thing.

More likely it was a B-17D.
Very unlikely that E-models would be parked anywhere in Indonesia so early in the war to be found wrecked there.

ETF, Treetop64: You are right. It does look like a "D" model, not an "E" like I said.

According to another website:
The plane in the center is a Miles Whitney Straight, Royal Singapore Flying Club, impressed into military service, wrecked on Bandeong around April 20, 1942

Yes a Miles seems to be the correct assumption.
