On the artillery UI, there is a button to "Fire All Smoke" and "Fire All", but there is no buttons to fire "All Illum" or fire "All HE".
Despite doing area Illums before where you can fire a number of guns on different tgts so that the flares from each overlap and and cover a greater area, I suddenly thought, it would be far easier to have a "Fire all Illum" button instead of firing each mission individually one at a time, tonight I had 8 guns firing so that was eight missions I had to fire as fast as I could. The theory of an area Illum is, all guns fire together so the rounds burst at the same time. There is no issue if all the missions are Illum as you can use the "Fire All" button, but if there is also smoke and HE missions etc in the menu, then you cannot.
The same problem arises with HE and probaly DPICM.
With dedicated buttons, it would be easier to keep a fire plan, a smoke screen going or an area illum task going, etc
