I was playing as Humans and Corp Nat and custom pre-warp with the Unleashed 2.2 mod.

Just got warp and created my explorer ships with warp drive.

My problem is this my space station was out of fuel and all of my new explorer ships were out fuel after being made could not figure out why this happened.

Also turned off all auto and ship design could not build a large station only option to build was medium. Had plenty of cash.

Any help would be great.

TIA

Looks like you run out of caslon, which is a fuel needed for your ships to run.

you can see how much caslon you have in colony view -> cargo tab. also you need to build gas mining stations on planets that have caslon deposit to suplly your colonies with fuel.
you can also fuel your ships regulary either on gas mining station or on the colony.

as for large spaceport, make sure you have design ready in designs window. eventhogh in early game small or medium spaceport is enough.

Fuel is important throughout the game - did you build enough (any?) gas mining stations?
If you have reached warp drives you may have also improved your reactors. Be aware that the original (red) reactor design uses hydrogen, but the first improved design switches to caslon, so make sure you're mining the correct fuel type. Not sure why your gas mining ships are not collecting fuel for you.

Perhaps it would help if you re-enabled some automation to help out with the stuff you don't understand yet. Certainly put all the privately owned ships onto full automatic (freighters & mining ships). Check your designs for these ship types to make sure they are optimal and also that they are small enough to fit within your ship size build limit. You can design big ships, but you can't build them until you research the technology.

You don't need to build large space stations yet - just stick to small/medium until later in the game.

Unless you're using a mod that changes things, Basic Space Reactors (the red ones initially available on a prewarp start, with an icon that looks a bit like HAL from the film version of 2001: A Space Odyssey) use Caslon, just like the Fission Reactors that supersede them. For any starting species other than Quameno, Fusion Reactors (also red, but more like a target symbol) are the first reactors that use hydrogen, can only be developed after the first upgrade of the Fission Reactor, and will not be available at game start unless you chose an advanced tech start (I believe starting at tech level 3 or higher will make it available, though it might need level 4). Quameno can instead go to NovaCore Reactors after developing the first Fission Reactor tech on a prewarp start, and will have NovaCore Reactors available from the beginning of the game on a normal start.

When you aren't able to build a Base, check the blueprint oft the base to check the components and requirements. Eventually you have copied the blueprint from a other game? I had a similar problem with my blueprints. I have imported them in my vanilla game and forgotten, that there mod components was build in. So i can't build some Ships and bases. I must first rework them, to met all conditions and remove the mod-components. Perhaps yo have a similar problem.

I thought I had gas giants being mined it was running out of fuel that was the problem.

I had plenty of cash like 700k+

Thanks for the replies

I thought I had gas giants being mined it was running out of fuel that was the problem.

Bear in mind that to generate fuel, you don't just need to mine a gas giant, you need to mine a gas giant (or gas cloud) with an appropriate resource deposit - Caslon if you're using Basic Space, Fission, or Quantum Reactors, and Hydrogen if you're using Fusion, Hyperfusion, or NovaCore Reactors. Your freighters will then pick it up and bring it to space stations and colonies, and ships can refuel from any location which has surplus fuel stocks.

It is also possible that you have more than enough fuel production and that the cause of your fuel issue at the homeworld is simply that your freighters are slow. If your fuel source is a gas giant on the opposite side of the system from your homeworld and your freighters do not have a hyperdrive of some description, then it will take a very long time for your freighters to bring fuel to your homeworld as they have to crawl across the system at their sublight cruise speed of probably about ten (assuming you use the default designs, though you'll probably not do much better with custom designs in the very early stages of the game), whereas even an underpowered Warp Bubble Generator will probably hit a hyperspeed of 600 or so and allow your ships to cross the system relatively rapidly. Especially for freighters which lack hyperdrives, there is also the possibility that your freighters will run out of fuel on the way to or from the gas mining station, which reduces their speed to about one third of the normal cruise speed and may make it impossible or very difficult for your ships to arrive at the gas mine or the homeworld, as orbital speed in the game is somewhere around 3 or 4.

The lack of fuel at your planet is one that can occur much later in the game, too. It's because that sometimes the AI just "forgets" to issue orders to your private freighters & gas mining ships to move supplies to your planets.

The work around is simple.

Create STATE OWNED mining ships. Use the escort chassis with 2 gas extractors and some cargo bays and 1 little weapon (makes it a state ship) and you can issue mining orders to it. Even a size 230 ship will move enough fuel and as you grow you can increase the size or just add more ships and make a fleet of them. (There is no fleet mining order you will have to order each ship.) There are few things worse than watching your new battleship fleet launch empty of fuel from a 50 construction yard spaceport and have to crawl across the system to the nearest fuel supply. Once I learned this trick i started using fuel fleets at every important world (because sometimes your fuel is half a sector away). Name the fleets "(worldname) Tankers" to keep track of them.

edit: and I believe bacon mod allows you to control freighters, too. I intend to try that shortly now that i'm back to playing DWU.

Since the OP is using the Research Unleashed 2.2 mod, the NovaCore uses helium instead of hydrogen, but you'd only know that if you used the same mod file.
