Hi there,
I am having some trouble, trying to mod a Default campaign.
- Contrary to what the manual says, there is nowhere a separate directory for user campaigns visible
- If I save my campaign under another filename in the "Campaigns"-folder, the campaign would not appear when I want to select it in the "Single Player" menu
- Reopening it via "Open User Campaign" results in an error message (could not find scripts/events/convoy.txt - although it is there) and in crashing the Editor session

Is there a solution? Thanks for your help.

Great game though

Joerg

Sorry to hear about the trouble and normally after you open the default campaign in the Editor, and then select to save it, the Save As screen should default to the following folder:

C:\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - World at War\Campaigns

Which will show as the following in the SaveAs dialog:

Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - World at War\Campaigns

Is this not the case? If not, where is it defaulting to, i.e. what is the path it is giving you instead?
Hubert

If you've saved to the Program Files campaigns folder it is likely to give you this error you are reporting as nothing should be saved there. I would delete it from the Program Files folder and try again to save to your USER folder instead.

Hope this helps,
Hubert

Hi, thanks for the suggestions. The user folder for Strategic Command did not exist, so I created in manually. When I save an edited campaign there I get the error message "FAILED(Set customizations): No such file or directory.

But when I compare what is saved in the user directory, the files in the subdirectories seem to equal those in the default folders in size & numbers.
When I try to open the campaign file from the user directory I get the error message "Error: Could not find xx/Scripts/Events/convoy.txt. Campaign could not be loaded."
Checked whether the scripts are in the proper subdirectory, which they are...

Then I manually copied the files of a default campaign to the user directory, tried to open it in the editor: I get same missing script error, so I guess it must be a reference entry somewhere that is not changed properly.

Best Jorg

Hi Jorg,

There would have to be some sort of user directory for the game somewhere on your computer as neither the game or the Editor would launch without one.

For example, when you first launch the game a file named SC3.ini would be created in that USER folder and then an editor.ini file would be created as well.

These files are then referenced when the game or the Editor are run and would not run otherwise.

If you can find where the editor.ini file is located on your system, and it should be located in typically the path I described above, then this is where your modded campaign would need to be saved as well.

When you open a default campaign and select SaveAs, what folder does the Editor default to?

Hubert

Hi Hubert, at last I found the right directory, where the files were stored.
Thanks for your help.

Joerg.
