I am considering putting together a scenario which covers the Allied drive back across the Pacific.

Late 43 is my proposed start, what do youse think is a better start date.

Oct 43 - Prior to Bouganville, Tarawa & Makin.

Jan 44 -Prior to Eniwetok, Kwajalein & Roi-Namur.

It all could depend on getting enough OOB data.

Any thoughts??

Thanks

My guess it would be a piece of cake to find out which units participated in the Tarawa, Bouganville and Makin invasions, would be a good deal harder to find out what the state of both US/UK forces in New Guinea and Burma were in, and would be next to impossible to correctly approximate the exact status of the Chinese and Japanese forces in China was (unless you have a Chinese interpreter handy). Great thought though.

I'd like Oct. '43. I think that would be a fun scenario, at least for the allied player with versatility in terms of operational strategy.

I think Oct 43 would e best since that would at least theoretically allow the Allied Player to choose how he was going to go about beating the Japanese AND allow him to prep his units to pursue that strategy.

Might have to work on the victory conditions some though to make any Japanese type player want to play.

China OOB, I've got something to start with, and then plan to guess my way through the rest.
(als AndyMac did a mid 43 scenario way back, I'll see what he did)

Of course all JFB will stay away, they dont like a challenge and need some fantasy game.

Slightly earlier as the Allies need time to prep. The ops in the mandates started in Nov 43 and by starting in Oct the Allies would be hard pressed to get their units to 100% prep.

Now was that really necessary?????

I for one will probably only play a scenario 1 game, as I want the whole enchilada in front of me. Exceptions would be a rare FTF small scenario, like Coral Sea.

Anyway its why I never got 'Uncommon Valor'. I recall my exact thought when it came out, "I want the whole war", and had it with WitP. When AE came out that was the icing on the cake. That's not to say I don't like a challenge. The simply idea of playing Japan is a challenge. If you doubt my veracity I suggest you try to play Japan.

I take it this mod will be versus AI only then?

Units can have their prep level set in the editor, so that would not be a problem.

Is this supposed to be a big scenario or an actual full map campaign? I was just wondering because China was mentioned but the original premise seemed to suggest it would be focused on the US-led offensive operations in the Pacific.

China will be there, as will the British/Indians in Burma and Australians in New Guinea.

Thanks Bill, I thought that was possible but hadnt checked.

My favorite scenario in the old PACWAR game was Jun 44 to the end of the war. But, I only played that against the AI, if you can call it that it was so bad. I don't see much interest in your mod from the Japanese side, but I'd love to play it against a Japanese AI, if you could get challenging scripts to work. Either start date would be fine with me, but I'd probably prefer the later start.
