I just thought I should get that off my chest.

Well, here I am. I'm new, I've had this game for a long time now and I had forgotten that I did have this game. So I've started playing it again and its so fun!
But lately it seems like I have to play more and MORE SP.
Playing Nazi Germany and wiping out armys left and right is becomming an addiction!
Wheres the 5 step program???

Anyways.
Now that I'm here, I have indeed playing Nazi Germany starting in Jan. 1939, right now in my 2nd overall battle. Both have been againest Poland. They have mass infantry, but nothing fighter-bombers can't handle. Although in the 2nd mission I have no planes, but the poles are cowards. :D

I really don't like to play PBEM games but I guess I will if I have to.
And I've heard the term "H2H" thrown around alot.
I thought it always ment "Head to Head"
Does it mean something else as well?

Also, anyone up to a game?

Oh ya, its great to be here!

Hi STIM. Welcome. :)

*applause*

I guess the first step in the 5 step recovery program would be VikingNo2, haw haw haw. :D You're a mean bashtuud, JJ - going after the newcomers like that! ;)

H2H means exactly that - Head to Head. It's a mod for SP:WAW carefully made by Panzer Leo, and the new version is just out. When you get accustomed to PBEM (and be sure you will, there's no turning back now muuahahah), try it out. Personally, I think H2H whips the original 7.1 both in single-play and PBEM.

For info on H2H, go here.

STIM, just don't get discouraged when VikingNo2 kicks your *** badly! If you can do halfway decent against him, you'll be able to handle anyone. He's a good gauge for how much you thought you knew about SPWAW. I'd take him up on the challenge.

Bob

Oh, and say goodbye to a good night's sleep.:D

Hey Stim! Welcome. I still bit of a noob myself, but welcome nonetheless.

VikingNo2: might I pit myself against thee some day, sir?

Oh and does the H2H mod overwrite the original game? Or does it run side by side?

Welcome fellow Newby. These are great boards, with lotsa fun characters. They make me laugh just reading some of the stuff that goes on, and this is the sane board around here, unlike that AOW board. :D It is all fun though, have fun with PBEM. I think playing these guys you will be playing the best so beware.
Again Welcome.

Hey Viking I'm new and I have no clue what 10% Atry is.

Hell I'm not even playing with C&C on, reduced squads off, and umlimited ammo.

So yup. I'm starting to learn though, I didn't even have to be told that you need infantry to support tanks! :)

Although infantry supporting your tanks donst help when your own planes bomb the SHI* out of them.
I learned that the hard way. :(

Belisarius
Hey thanks for the link, since I'm on a 56k it will take me a day or two to d/l that file. (Thank goodness for DAP)
But it changes some things in the game? Is it for good or bad? And does it only affect muliplay, or both MP and Singleplayer?
Also if I use this, does that mean I cannot play with other people who dont use it?
If it re-writes over the game, I really don't want to try and get my SP:WAW game out of my CD again, it was hard the first time. For some reason my computer HATES that CD.

rbrunsman
I'd be happy to play with anyone, right now I've been trying to play a friend in 7.1 H2H but he always has to go RIGHT as we start. :( I always save the game, but then he never wants to play the same game again.
But thats ok, it gives me time to fiqure out which units I should use more then others.

To all others
Thanks for the Welcome, its good to be here.
Oh and Viking heres my E-mail, send me a time when you can play.
Dschultz26@hotmail.com
I have the whole week off next week from work, and I might have this upcoming Sunday (15th) to play with too. So yup.

Edit:
Belisarius the website seems to be down or something as I can only view the main page, but I can do nothing else. I'll try some other time.

10% arty meens that you can use 10% of your perchase points on arty, mortors, offbourd and onboard arty. If the mortor is 50mm(or the UK 2inch) or less don't count it in you 10%

I normally play with CC Off and everything else on.
True troop on/Rarity off.

What counrty would you like to be.
We can play with air if you wish.

We can start simple and work our way up.

How about 7k (700pts in arty, ammo dumps and trunks are not included in this)

No Air
No Infilitraitors
You Germany or what every country you want Me US
(you can be US and I play Germany if you would prefer)
1943 Please ask any question you can think of.

Hey your my kind of person!
Ok. I agree to those terms.

I'll be Germany vs your USA.
I'll let you pick the number of points. (Nothing to huge. I can muti-task, but I'm new to this game and I'm still learning. :) )
You can pick the map or random it if you want.

Which would you like to play? H2H or PBEM?
I've only played H2H and not PBEM before, but I can do new things.
Also since I don't have the newer H2H we will have to play the 7.1 one until I can find some time to get it. Hope you dont mind.

Also one question for guys.

In my games I've noticed whenever I fire my Arty, its always indirect. Is there any way to make it fire Direct? I have FO's and everything but I don't know how to make them fire direct.
Thanks!

Also a note to everyone, since I have Spammail.com (Hotmail.com) I get a TON of spam. if you want me to actully find your e-mail, please put something in the topic like, SP or WAW, something along those lines plz. Thanks!

STIM: for direct arty fire you need LOS from the artillery to the target (for instance a mortar unit sitting in a foxhole near a firefight with a clear view on possible targets can hit with direct fire). To check if an artillery piece can see a target at visual range (LOS), right click on it's hex (it lights up what the unit can see). You can also select the unit, and then right click on hexes around the unit to see what it can view. Last, there is a button that automatically checks for direct fire targets and fires at those targets (less control, but it does make sure the unit didn't miss out on anything).

I will set it up tonight when I get home. Arty can only fire direct fire it the Arty peice has a line of site to the target.

Currently there are two versions of Matrix SPWAW

1. Is 7.1 ( which is what I am going to set up and send you, in a Play By Email{PBEM} game, do you have a slot prefernce ? ) 7.1 has some updates out there. You can find them in the forum.

2. Is the H2H mod by Panzer Leo ( excellent mod, which will have its own update very soon, I wish I could send this guy some beer or money or something )

So don't get confused between two players playing head to head in a PBEM game and someone asking you to play the H2H version of SPWAW. There other way to confuse head to head is with Hot Seat play( two opponents playing on the same computer)I hope I have not confused you.

Finnaly plaese put in the Sub of you return email what version, example Slot 8 7.1

Will send you something in about 4 to 5 hours

Hey Viking just to let you know, I have re-sent the turn.

Btw I had to start my turn over 3 times. So sorry about that.

The first time was because I suddenly had to go leave to clean up a house we were building.

The 2nd time I did my turn, sent you the file, then when you got the wrong file I had LOST my turn.

And so the 3rd time I did all the moves I could remember from the 2nd time.

I hope this donst make you mad or to make you think I'm cheating or anything. I'm really sorry. :(

I have learned from older posts that (I love researching) he likes to scout with mecha, and he likes to hit and run with light tanks.

dwayne, you should challenge Jim1954. He's a very pleasant fellow so you shouldn't mind getting crushed by him.:D

Hint: It's is also good to play people that aren't so good at PBEM because you learn just as much from seeing someone make a mistake as you do getting killed by someone who doesn't make mistakes. Newbies will often get crushed and will be left scratching their heads about what they could have done to win. Almost any game is winable, but if you don't see how it's done you don't learn as much. Newbies should also play newbies to see errors and get the learning and thrill of exploiting the errors of their opponents.

I just play everybody, but RB is right play fellow new comers. Diffirent player have diffirent ways of getting results. I learn things from most games I play, weather I play some one fairly new or some of the old dogs around here.

P.S. Never play RB if you are the mid war UK and he the Germans, that game still gives me nightmares:mad: :o :(

Try to vary the type of terrain you play on as well.

In our game so far you don't seem to be doing to bad, there is just a few things about elevation you need to keep in mind ;)

I believe that was the game that I discovered the awesome power of SS Panzers in H2H (was it PzIVh's?). Those things should be illegal!:D

The last 5 games I've had at the German control have all been mid-war. I've come to absolutely love the PzIVh! :D Quite expensive, on par with the T-34 m43, but with a wicked fire control rating! :p Cool to see them strike home in 4-5 shots out of 6 at 20 some hexes...

It's just something very nice about a tank that's not unvincible in any way but still spells Death to whatever it lays sights upon. No, I'm not talking about the Easy8

I would say the PzIVh is my favorite tank. It's not over powerful. It's just good and it looks nice too. In the hands of someone who knows how to use it, look out! :)
