The video demonstrates the confused nature of naval combat in the Pacific.
Missed searches, searches launched in the wrong direction, bad weather, lost planes,
missed attack opportunities, strikes launched against less than optimal targets, lucky hits….etc.
It is a validation of the wonderful game design of WITP-AE.
In all the years I have been war-gaming I have never found a game that models
the documented confusion of Pacific War naval combat better than WITP-AE.
As a side note:
Reminds me how much I miss my veteran father at Christmas time.
The veterans of WW2 are leaving us. They knew the war for what it was.
One of my favorite horror actors and a veteran, Christoper Lee, died in 2015:

He proposed to let out a small groan, a quiet gasp, as the air is pushed out of his punctured lungs.
The director was resistant, so Lee said: "Peter, have you ever heard the sound a man makes when
he's stabbed in the back?"
"Um, no," replied Jackson.”
"Well, I have," said Lee, "and I know what to do.'" And from somewhere deep in the recesses of his memory
an old SOE agent conjured the sound a Nazi makes when you plunge the knife in.

When I play WITP-AE I sometimes get the uncanny feeling that the designers had the same kind
of insight into the real war as Christoper Lee did. Uncanny for sure!
