Hey guys, just wondering.

We all know there are a bajillion good scenarios out there for Steel Panthers, but finding them is not always a straightforward easy process.

I am interested in knowing, if anyone has ever thought, wouldn't it be nice if they were actually all in ONE spot as ONE downloadable file?

We have the primary game file, and update/patch files, but there is no coordinated cohesive source (that I know of) for scenario files.

I think it would be cool, if we had some manner of one stop scenario depot for eeeeeevry SPWaW scenario that is currently usable correctly in the current SPWaW version (which woudl be 7.1 as of this post).

The trick is of course, they would have to be in a public download location much as the current files are.

That, and of course the files would have to be identifiable by name in a way that made sense to all of us (I have oft been annoyed by scenarios with one name, and a file that is something totally different, makes keeping track of them a hassle).

Is there even any interest in this? Because if no, well I guess then it all becomes moot don't it :)

Funnily enough, this same topic came up yesterday when few of us were semi-idling on chat...
So I'd say there is need for one big scenario archive.

and while a part of me would also love a "Wal-Mart: One Stop Shop"...it is a somewhat impractical idea when you consider that there are design teams ( The Raiders, Dirty Dozen, etc ) that already have download archives of their scenarios.

Then you must remember that there are a swarm of independant designers ( like our friend Jess ) that have a "home" collection of works available upon request because not all of them are on a host site for immediate downloading.

What would really be the best compromise would be a "sticky" in the Scenario's sub-forum that would have maybe an excel sheet document listing the scenarios...their theater of ops...player side(s)...who made it....where to download it....etc, etc.

The problem is...getting all that information gathered and categorized, as someone would have to perform the data entry work...and then perhaps monthly update the records as new material comes out.

Just my two cents. :D

I've thought that too Les. I actually asked someone at Matrix about it a while back, I forget whom it was, and they sort of pointed me towards the MGO site. Too bad there is nothing here at "Home" at Matrix for this.

I have a fair number of user created campaigns that cannot be easily found anymore and it would be nice if they had a place they could call home and be readily accessible to the rest of the addicts, especially the newcomers who were not around when these were available.

:)

This idea was discussed, in depth. I believe that Hellcat was working on something, but its been quite some time since I've heard anything about its status.

Just to make life more difficult, it would be really nice, were some kind soul to pull such a list together, if there was an indication as to what version the campaign or scenario requires.

Maybe I'm wrong, but haven't the OOBs migrated with the different versions to where wierd results would occur playing an older scenario with SPWAWv7.2?
