Your game has to be registered with Slitherine/Matrix. Then after launching the game click on the 'Private WIF NetPlay Forum' button. That should bring up a dialog where you can click on 'Log In to Forum'. Then it should bring up a dialog where you can see your player name under 'Players On-line' and some commands and a list of other player names who have registered in the past. If you can get that far then everything is set up OK. If not, then you may have a game registration problem or are lacking a match on username or password (these are case sensitive).

If all that worked then you can just exit the forum and start a game and select 'Internet' under 'Mode of Play'. When you select player names for the game you are starting, it is critically important that those names match your forum playername as well as your opponent's forum playername (again case sensitive matching). As long as he can also get into the forum as above, then after you start the game, you should be taken to the forum automatically, and then your opponent just has to log in to the forum and after a brief wait, he should get an invitation to join your game.

Subsequent sessions can be started by both players loading a saved game whereupon they should be taken to the forum automatically and the game session is established.

Did you choose Internet when starting? Are you and your opponent both on-line at this point? It looks like the CW is in the process of setting up Poland - is that right? Once all the Poles are placed, you should be able to continue to who's next by clicking on the green button (may also be flashing - per a user setting choice) on the right side of the main menu at the top.

This was actually a solitaire game. My friend and I tried to play head to head too. But, we didn't have any more success.

What version of the game? If you have not updated beyond 1.0 since installing, that may account for it. Without getting more answers to questions about which phase and mode of play, etc., it is difficult to help. If you include a screen shot, it's good to include the Main Menu in it.

Three friends and I are considering purchasing this game but the playability of multiplayer online is critical to our decisions. Does it work? The product page links to a 2013 post which doesn't inspire confidence. I did read the message (different forum) about the release of version 2.09.xxxx. Is the current version stable for online play? Exactly what do we get for the $100. One source said all the hardbound books are included and another source said an download only version is available. Matrix buy now doesn't clarify.

Thanks for your help!

John

There's a cd-rom version and a download only version. If you buy the cd-rom version, you get the hardbound books. I don't know about the download version.

you need to post a save game.

just zip a save game, and embed it in a post.

You do know how to Zip your save game file, right !? ( From File Explorer, right click your save game file, and from the pop up menu, select Send To -> Compressed File)

Then to upload here, Click on the "Click here to Upload!" link located at the bottom of the reply to message window.
It will then ask you to browse for the zip file to upload.

Brian.

That's not a saved game. Not sure what it is. The game is saved in the Matrix WiF Scenarios directory.

To other Samaritans - if it doesn't look like a real MWiF game file, I would be loathe to open it.

I can't upload it. It says C:\fakepath\H2H.gam.GAM is not supported.
