ORIGINAL: Macclan5 I think Chiefs fans should take comfort thinking about 'the future' I realize that there are personnel complexities - draft picks - salary cap issues - business of sports issues. Partick Mahones and Andy R have a time horizon of 5 + years. I don't think it's as wide as some people think. We have a lot of young guys on rookie contracts that are going to break the bank, and a couple of old vets with some nasty cap hits.. Ford, for example, is the most interesting. Absolute dog **** prior to contract year and never healthy. Contract year he's the best edge rusher in the league.. Look at all of the other teams that broke the bank with their QB salaries... How many of the top 10 paid QBs made the playoffs this year? Exactly. They're talking about $200 million for Mahomes. I am about as big of a Chiefs fan as you'll find. I've never ever given up on them, and never will. I like Mahomes, but no thank you. Don't even get me started on baseball. $300 million each for Machado and Harper, you can have all of that you want. I'll build an entire minor league with that, and be successful for the next 25+ years. Ask Phillies fans how Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, and Jimmy Rollins contracts worked out. Or Reds on Homer Bailey. Orioles on Chris Davis.. I could go on and on. When guys have to get paid, it absolutely destroys a team in my opinion. The Dodgers have the 3rd highest payroll in baseball. When was the last time they won a WS? THIRTY YEARS AGO I actually think our window is ridiculously short, but I am a very glass half empty kind of guy. NFL is weird. We were lucky we we're 100% healthy this year. Berry doesn't count. I actually think playing him playing in the Pats game wasn't a good thing. He took away snaps from Jordan Lucas who looks to have a bright future with us. He just isn't what he used to be, and the is he going to is he not going to play ****s with the other guy's minds who are preparing for his spot all week long. We had the top offense going into the game, 100% healthy, yet our defense cost us the game again. Remember 2003 playoffs? Exact same result. The zero punt game against the Colts Defense and a run game ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS wins championships. You cannot make a single argument against that. Pats game plan? Run the ball, and keep Mahomes off the field. No one else tried that this year. Once again, we're all playing cards, and Belichick has 6 cards. He is just that good. The Patriots entire organization should be studied for years to come for all businesses, sports teams, etc. The model of success. There was talk before the Colts game that if we lost, Reid would of been shown the door. You can't do well in the regular season and then always fall on your face in the playoffs. All I care about is getting rid of Sutton, everything else should work out.
