Anyone!

Do you have to have the troops you pick up in an actual established base? Like a 1 strength base or something?

I've been trying to pick some guys up from one of my yellow dots (Im allied player) and they seem to not want to do so.

Thanks in advance for any answers :D

Set your Fast Transport TF's home to that port. When the ships arrive, select load troops ONLY and tag the units that you want to move. Send them somewhere else.

The other option is to do an EMERGENCY pickup, but due to loading restrictions, it will only pick up a very small number of troops (too small to bother generally). To do this, while your ships are at the home port (not the base where the troops are), select load troops ONLY and instead of picking troops there, you will see a pickup troops option down at the bottom of the panel which will let you select troops located at another base.

If you pick load troops vs load troops ONLY, this option is not available as troops cannot be picked up this way in an emergency situation.

Remember that evacuating troops from a failed attack location always is considered an EMERGENCY pickup, supplies can not be picked up with the troops.

Thanks I'll try that.

I must do an emergency pick-up from a failed overland march!

Just be aware that the emergency pickup loads very little as it crams all it can in and jets outta there before the sun comes up. If you are talking a large number of troops, consider mounting a proper pickup with real transports protected by air power...

Hi, I've relocated 22k troops using the pickup command.
I had to make several runs but a TF that can carry 5k load points will pick up over 4k in one night. For a while I thought I was the king of the evac since I had operations retrieving troops in 6 games at the same time. (subs and fast transports)

I held Efate with troops moved from Liekar (the hex you retreat to when pushed out of Luganville) (The entire Americal Div, plus several support units) I even wiped out the Japanese that had landed on Efate. (every night he blockaded Noumea but the troops were coming from Liekar) Just remember this wears out the ships and you can not select a unit to pick up at sea (you have to be in port) And once the TF has made a run it will often default to the same unit it just carried (Sometimes you'll need to de-select a unit before selecting the one you want. )

Hi fellas, thanks for your replies but...

I have troops 1 hex south west of GG. I have a FT TF in Townsville. I order FT to load troops only. Then give orders to Pick Up troops. Nothing happens.

What in the blazes am I doing wrong. I have over 2K men in that area just sitting there.

thanks again
