Please could you add the Spear 3 missile to CMANO? The Spear missile is a truly remarkable little beast. It's based on the UK Brimstone Dual missile (itself a modification of the Hellfire which introduced a dual-mode guidance of both active MMW radar and semi-active laser guidance). (Look up the ThinkDefence article on the Spear 3 missile,it's really thinkdefence.co.uk/uk-complex-weapons/spear-capability-3/ The Spear is a small class of munition, around the size of a Small Diameter Bomb 2 (approx 100kg) however it has pop-out wings and a small turbojet that will give it an operational range of around 130km. In the guidance area, it will have MMW active radar and semi-active laser terminal however it will also have GPS/inertial which will assist it in navigation while also providing a backup terminal guidance option against fixed GPS co-ordinate targets. The Spear will also have datalink and it's possible that it will end up with Imaging Infrared as well (essentially an SDB-2 but with a small turbojet that will allow it to be fired from low altitude and fly below the radar horizon). It can also be quad-packed into naval launchers which would give a small corvette-type ship a very capable attack missile (it could either be used to attack naval targets homing in using its MMW radar, it could be used for close air support of ground troops onshore using it's laser guidance mode or it could be fired against fixed targets using GPS co-ordinates entered into the inertial navigation system). The warhead is not enormous (105lb) however it will be a superb weapon for engaging fixed and moving targets like SAM vehicles / radars, ballistic missile launchers, main battle tanks, self-propelled guns, APC and also naval vessels. It comes on a quad-round adapter interface that allows an F-35B to carry out of the little suckers. Imagine having three wolf packs of four F-35Bs, within each wolf pack two F-35 are carrying 8 Spear and 2 Meteor and the other two F-35 are carrying four Meteor missiles. This sort of force could wreak absolute havoc on a Russian air defence complex such as S-400. The price of Spear 3 (believed to be around £250,000 per round, an exceptional bargain) makes the price exchange ratio very favourable to the UK in engaging Russian SAM sites given the more advanced Russian SAM missiles like 48N6 cost close to $1 million US. Test flights occurred in 2016 and the UK government has given MBDA a £500 million development contract to produce missiles and integrate this weapon onto the Typhoon jet and onto the F-35B in Block 4. It will definitely be in the UK RAF arsenal by the early 2020s. Now, given all the totally hypothetical munitions that are available in CMANO, why can't we have the Spear 3? Please can we add this missile onto the RAF F-35B and Typhoon aircraft future variants? I would dearly like to do a scenario of the character of a sort of old, blue water carrier clash between the UK Queen Elizabeth class and the Russian Kuznetsov class (like carrier battles in the Pacific in World War 2), having Spear 3 available would be grand in making that happen. I note we also don't have Sea Venom yet added, while hypothetical weapons like the AIM-152 and platforms like the FB-22 bomber are available.
