A little late but still pertinent. The Midway battle took place 61 years ago on June 6th 1942. It turned the tide of war in the Pacific.

Since there many lovers of the sea and those majestic craft that ride upon or under her, I thought you might like to take a read of my newest article, "Midway Remembered."

I'd be interested in your thoughts. Its a rather long article but I think it will be worth your while. It gives some inside personal views of what those men felt during those momentous days.

Thanks,

Two important battles, same day. I wonder how many notice the date, June 6 is also D-Day, another major event during the war.

Interesting cooincidence at most perhaps.

Midway is to me significant for a unique reason actually. Last time my dad and myself actually went to a theater to watch a movie (yes that was a long time ago). I always enjoy watching the movie for that reason.

These days just getting dad to stay awake through the sports news is an accomplishment hehe.

Very interesting and well-written, Bill.

Even though I pretty much knew the story it held my interest to the end.

I did notice a duplication of a few paragraphs in the "On to Victory" section, just before "The First Blows" that you might want to edit out.

That is strange. Those Wargamer guys proof read it with a fine tooth comb  but I'll check. Thanks for the info, KF.

Midway. Well your Dad and I must be about the same age or in the same general area, Sarge. I took my two oldest sons to see it too, must have been in 1972, I think.

So many of those stars have gone, Charlton Heston, Henry Fonda, and others. One day I'll be joining them in that "Big Fleet" in the sky ;)

Very well written Wild Bill

Although we all know how it ends, the tension is still there everytime we recount the battle.

:)

It's Page 11

The paragraphs beginning:

"The American Douglas Dauntless ..."

"TBD Devastator ..."

"There was no doubt about it ..."

"But before the US navy could really get into action ..."

"The US carriers were not in Pearl Harbor .."

------------------------------------

The whole section is repeated on Page 12, just before the section titled The First Blows

 Hey Charlton Heston's character might have died in the movie, but AFAIK he's still very much alive! Its hard to kill a guy thats survived the wrath of Pharoh, a planet of simians, vampires, earthquakes, etc. :p

Great news! I remember now. He had retired as head of the NRA and really looked bad. Sorry I put him into an early grave. I want him (and me) to live a lot longer...

Ah, now I see. Yes, the whole page is in there twice. Thankfully that was not my doing. I thought perhaps I had repeated a paragraph. I'll let Wargamer editors know at once. Thanks, KF!
