"White Tiger" is very good too.
It's a Russian film and it's on youtube (subtitled):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiGDJ5-dXaI&t=363s

Just note though, it's allegorical, it's about the nature of Evil.
It ain't Saving Pt Ryan...

ugh White Tiger! Didn't care for that one other than that it had a T-34.
I thought Zvezda was much better.

I always recommend The Train.

One of the best war movies and train movies ever. Gritty with sweat, blood and real trains.

Yes, excellent film. OK so the Germans aren't very accurate and the plot holes are big enough to drive a panzer grenadier company through. ;)

Well I thought about it, but the best WW2 movies just aren't from the last 40 years:

The Cruel Sea (1953)
The Battle of River Plate (1956)
Ice Cold in Alex (1958)
Where Eagles Dare (1968)
Letters from Iwo Jima (2006)

Greetings to All,
I would add WW II films dealing with Italian and Spanish troops on Eastern front:
Attack and Retreat (Breva Genta in Italian) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9_WHRTdqHoE-Is7IV4cdgA
La Division Azul (Spanish Blue Division) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wS4341XBXl8

For something different, the Finnish "Unknown Soldier" from 2017 was just published on Amazon.

Based on a book written by a veteran, it covers a lot of ground, so I'd wait for the 5-part TV series version to become available. It was all filmed on a manner that they produced the two from the material done.

A deleted scene: https://youtu.be/uMSqtVxRECs

Edit: Or not deleted as such, but something that is included on the TV-series, but not on the movie version.

Another PTO and on US soil. Retreat from Kiska (Japanese 1965) In 1943, the Aleutian island of Kiska was fortified by a small contingent of Japanese soldiers. When word arrived of an impending attack by an overwhelming force of Americans, the Japanese Navy attempted one of the most daring and unlikely evacuations in military history. When the US invaded, they found a couple of military dogs left behind.

Sahara a 1943 Humphrey Bogart movie https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0036323/ A real gritty black and white North Africa desert saga. All I could get was a brief YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AepKyGLsZoI (there is a number of them). Sure wish there was a full length movie about this that could be posted for free.. Here's some more movie clips: http://www.tcm.com/mediaroom/video/222512/Sahara-Movie-Clip-Opening-General-Retreat.html

TCM (Turner Classic Movies) (cable TV) is airing Sahara on Thursday, June 27, 2019 for those interested.

A shout for the Saints and Soldiers series as well. Low budget, not perhaps with the most memorable plots either, but great detail to gear and equipment of the era for one.
