I'm in the final stages of adapting my Historical Flags mod from SC WIE to SC WAW.

The mod is essentially finished, and now I have the exciting task of combing through it looking for bugs.

I've been experiencing a host of technical difficulties with my imperfect understanding and ancient copy of Photoshop 7 relating to semi-transparent shadows. My imperfect solution has been to eliminate the shadows altogether and replace them with a fully transparent layer. My problem has been that every time I set the image mode to indexed color and color table to create a transparent color, there's enough of a color shift in the file that I end up making parts of things transparent that I didn't want to be transparent at all. I've found that I can get away with repairing damaged files once (after which I have to cross my fingers and go through indexed color/color table all over again), but adding in extra textures on a whim is becoming a real pain. For that reason I'm currently limiting the mod (especially when it comes to 3-D bases) to the countries that have or can build HQ's in the vanilla version of the game. My position on this will change if someone can enlighten me on what I'm doing wrong and explain a better way of approaching this (I know there is one).

In the meantime, I have a nagging feeling that I'm on the verge of putting the wrong flag on one of the images. In the Media folder there's a chairman mao file that looks a bit like this:

Since I'm a victim of Emerson's hobgoblin, my first reaction was to make a second version that uses the chinese communist flag:

I've read through the decision events in three of the strategy guides hoping to find something that relates to it. I keep thinking of the Red Orchestra image that has a Soviet Flag (which this isn't) and an officer in a German uniform. There is probably a reason why the Chairman Mao image doesn't use the chinese communist flag from the game (which was only really their flag into the late '30's) but not having played WAW enough to encounter the image in-game, I don't know what it is.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

To find where Media Files are used, I search scripts for the file title. Sometimes it is frustrating after searching a few files that seemed appropriate but were not the correct ones, but eventually it is found.
