Thought some of you would like to get these as they are free! The description is "An atlas published by the German Army General Staff in 1942 titled "Der Feldzug gegen Sowjet-Russland: Band I. Operationen Sommer-Herbst 1941 vom 21. Juni - 6. Dezember 1941." The atlas contains a 121 color maps showing German and Soviet unit positions on the Eastern Front from 21 June to 6 December 1941. Each map is 1.3 MB and the entire collection is 1.65 MB."

Below is the link to their Facebook site. I just got mine and they really look great. All you have to do is send them an Email.

Confirm. The goods are there. Some maps photographed not in perfect sharpness, but hey! It's free!
Excellent resource. If I only had the time to really dig through it... But then, one must plan for retirement, right?

In case you were not aware, you can also find that particular publication/ map set on the Library of Congress website, and it is available for download there. The primary benefit in my mind (as opposed to the email that gent sends out) is that you can choose a certain quality of download. I.E., you can choose a super high resolution d/l of 300mb per map. While maybe not practical (in terms of h/d space), if you would like to zoom in with very clear detail, then this is the one for you, you can see all the map details/ place names/ unit designations quite crisply. The one that gent sends you is a lower quality resolution that gets blurry when you zoom in.

D/Ling the 120 or so maps at 300 mb per map is somewhat tedious, but I have made my way through the June 21, map to August 01. Even though you cannot necessarily rely on the soviet unit location/ designations, the German daily dispositions indicated seem somewhat reliable.

Also, historically, the document is interesting. Was this being compiled daily? Who was in charge of making it. The document's last map entry is Dec. 06, however even before then the maps had already been stopped being produced every day (unlike July, Aug, Sept,) when it was probably realized that this adventure had turned into a nightmare.

Any direct link for those Library of Congress pages? I could find only western front allies material there.

I am unable to post links because I recently just signed up for this account on the Matrix forums.
However, just go to the United States Library of Congress website, then in that website's search box copy and paste this--"Der Feldzug gegen Sowjet-Russland : Band I. Operationen Sommer-Herbst 1941 vom 21. Juni-6. Dezember 1941". The first search result is the map set. It will allow you to both look at each map and download if you wish. Hope this helps.

By the way, like I said previously, the clearest downloadable image is the Tiff image which runs about 298 to 302 mb per map. The tiff image is veiwable on Windows Photo viewer, so you dont need to acquire any special viewer or anything, assuming you're using windows os.

Alternatively just paste it in Google, the first entry in results is the page from the Library of Congress. Thank you Commanderski and Cirque_du_Melee

There are daily maps into 1942. They were available on an FTP server (here: http://www.wwii-photos-maps.com/) but they have been taken down now.

I contacted the person running that website. If you contact him, he can give you a means to access those maps.
