hello all,

what is your opinion about really nuclear weapons, chemical weapons, naval mines and land mines in the sc games (historical correctly)? not as events, really on the map with animation, effects, icon, contaminated tiles/hexes....

imho, stupid. The effect area of these weapons would not even cover a full hex. You would need a game with a LOT smaller scale for these weapons to be modeled and even then it would be not worth the effort as the overall impact of them on the course of the war is minor at best.

The A-bomb would have the most impact but it should come so late in the war, most games would either be abandoned or won/lost before they could be used.

Given the limited resources developers have for these type of games, adding these in would not be in their best interest. Of course if you really want these in a game, you can either mod them in or develop a game yourself

I'd like to see them, but then my philosophy is the more options the better.

And yet you don't have an issue with a city or port taking up an entire hex?

Make more features, sure, just don't put them in as standard settings. Could add Bridges, POW's, Civilian death count, City Rubble, Naval Leaders, all kinds of new ships, monster map, more & more detail. No limit to what could be added. Doesn't mean play-ability would be better as a game. Each their own.

Sorry, but you misunderstood. Your question is not at all stupid nor do I think you are either. Adding these weapons into this game I thought was stupid. Hope that clears things up.
