Hello, I recently purchased CMANO and really enjoy it. However, I am having a problem with pausing and reducing time compression in the game and thought I would ask to see if I am doing something wrong.

I have the game set up to show messages in a separate window which I have moved to a second monitor. This works great, but whenever a message is generated by the game it moves the "focus" to the message window and the keys to pause the game or reduce time compression do not work. In order to pause or reduce time compression I have to click with the mouse on the map window to shift focus back away from the message window to the main window. After I do this the pause and time compression controls work normally.

This is frustrating when running at a higher time compression as I often do not have time to click on the main window and hit pause before something serious occurs. I found a few old messages in the forum that bring up this issue but did not see a solution.

So, I am asking if there is a way around this issue or if it is something I am just going to have to learn to deal with. One option would be not to run the messages in a separate window but I really like having the extra real estate on the monitor. I guess another option would be to set the game to pause on any message whatsoever but this defeats the purpose of using time compression.

I don't know if this is something that is an issue for anyone else but thought I would check the forums to see if it is and, if so, the best way to deal with it. Any thoughts or advice are appreciated. I really enjoy this game and want to be able to play it to the best way possible.

This has come up a couple of times.

See - http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3513580&mpage=1&key=focus

Even supposedly marked 'Fixed' way back in v1.04 - http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3561262&mpage=1&key=focus

I thought I had replied to one of these threads a few months back saying it also caused problems if you try to map keys to your mouse buttons. If the main map window is not the one w/ Focus, the mouse buttons (like the keyboard commands) won't do what you want them to.

Yes, I found those messages as well but wanted to make sure that I had not missed something. Based on the response from the moderator back in 2014 it looks like there is no easy fix for the issue.

I would like to find a workaround as it is frustrating to be running the game at a higher than normal speed and then not be able to pause by hitting F12 if the message window has stolen the active focus. I guess I can go back to not having the message window open on my second monitor but that is going to cramp the space available on the main screen.

Regardless, I have really enjoyed the game in the few days since I have had it.

Had to roll this back because it created a more serious UI issue: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4623401.

Re-opened, and we'll look for another way to fix this.

Hi all,
Pressing space to pause does not appear to work for me on CMO.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Found out that after patch xx15.7 pause by space works, but only when no units are selected. Not sure if this is by intent or not. Imo it should work always.
