Turn 22. Mar/Apr. 1943. Axis #4.

The Pacific. IJN. South China Sea.

Correction: In item 6 of the action description in the top-left, it should read that the allies use 3 surprise points to target the Japanese transport loaded with an armor (and not mech) corps.

That is, it should read: 6. 3 SP's => target D on TRS + armor corps.

Note that the allied sub did indeed manage to damage the transport, which was loaded with valuable cargo.

Turn 22. Mar/Apr. 1943. Allied #7.

Weather. Except for rain in the arctic, the weather is fine across the map including the Med. This means Torch. Or might it mean a combination Anvil/Torch?

Actions. US - land, Great Britain - land, Free France - combine, China - land, USSR - land.

Turn 12. Mar/Apr 1943. Allied #7.

Western Allies. Torch/Exporter or Anvil/Torch/Exporter? The Western Allies had put forth such a strong narrative that even with near-perfect intelligence regarding allied plans and future operations, Germany believed with certainty that the Western Allies next move would be an invasion of Vichy North Africa (i.e., Operation Torch) and Syria (i.e., Operation Exporter). Germany was so sure that they had positioned Vichy units in northern and western Vichy to support Germany's anti-partisan mission. So sure, that they allowed Vichy to leave their entire coast along the Med un-garrisoned except for some battalion level, notional units.

The allied deception was so good that even senior officers aboard invasion and troop transports in the Western Med were convinced that their next stop was Vichy North Africa. Convinced up to the point that the allied invasion and supporting task forces started moving north towards Metropolitan France.

Unnoticed by most was the arrival and departure by carrier plane of General Brian to the US Wasp, flagship of the carrier and battleship strike task forces supporting the invasion and (current) quarters to the overall commander of all combined forces of this operation, General Eisenhower. It was shortly after General Brian met with General Eisenhower that the Western Med invasion and carrier strike forces turn north with a heading directly towards the Vichy Metropolitan shore. Coincidence?

Western Allies. It's Operation Anvil/Torch/Exporter. Or informally known as "Triple Play" by the senior allied US planners.

Turn 12. Mar/Apr 1943. Allied #7.

Western Allies. RAF Ground Strikes. Metropolitan Vichy France. No longer are Great Britain and Vichy France just at war, Vichy is now hostile to Great Britain.

Western Allies. USN Ground Strikes. Rabat, Morocco. Well, at this point the US and Vichy are just at war. Vichy is hostile yet. But all that changes when US amphibious units being landing on the shores of southern France (and Morocco).

Fight the bad guys, fight them!

Especially fight them where they don't get along. And where their blood supply is.

Smaug still has even more weak points right now - and they will soon actually even multiply. Winston knows, from bitter experience. Maybe - Winston is Bilbo? Who knew?

Something is strange about this combat. The notional should have had strength 2. ((1 intrinsic + 1 home country - 1 surprise) * 2 for mountain.) Toulon is in supply. So why is the notional strength zero?

For game purposes this does not matter, as the Allies had at least a +9 attack with shore bombardment, so with a roll of 13, they took the hex without loss, but there is a bug, unless Vichy declined the notional for some reason.
