Has there been any thought to a possible Pacific theatre close combat? I know that its usually always been Eureapean theatre. But a shift to the pacific would be amazing. Not to mention educational. (^_^)

It's not out of the question, though the theater tends to be less popular than the Western front.

Cheers

I've got the feeling any subject you cover will be popular with this game.

Back in the day Matrix had along with Combat Leader a Pacific game in the works. Can't remember what it was going to be called now though. I do remember it has an impressive feature list including radio comms modeled.

Anyway both game webpages are what brought me to Matrix games, I was so looking forward to both games and neither showed up

Done properly with charging banzai japanese foot soldiers and specific mechanics it could be a really cool theatre to explore.

Close Combat 3 The Russia Front was one of the most popular CC made by Fan requests, so i would not put it pass them.

Man,a pacific theater CC would be intense. I'm sure it would require quite a bit of study of the Japanese forces and OOB though.

As long as this game TBF can be loaded, I'm certain mods of the Japanese front will appear. On Close Combat fans sites you will find a couple of mods that address the Asian theatre. Maybe we will see an Asian theater off this version of CC as well.

there are two CC's that have been modded for the Pacific theater

CC III: PacMod
CC V: OKINAWA

Both are quite good imo. Okinawa had some of the best looking maps for CC V imo

Yea, id like to see a pacific themed CC with all the new features

Close combat is almost built for the Pacific Theatre. But to do it in close combat you would really need other elements that need a lot of programming and a planning phase to simulate the amphibious landings and the air support, naval support etc. You cannot just do what the CC mods do. It's not enough. As illustrated by the 20 repeats of the engine over the last 20yrs. You have to give the player new toys to play, new things to think about and simulate with and that takes effort.

I always had trouble making that Mod work. Any suggestions? I did the WW1 and the Tunisian campaign. I enjoyed them.

The basic idea from a full mod is take what you want in a game and adapt it for a proyect. Of course most of the people will not make a redesign adapting the game but it can be made.

About simulate amphibious landings........I do not see them neccesary, the 99% from combats in the pacific, they were in the beach and more deep inside the islands. Just you need the beach.

Order of Battle Pacific was the launching point for successful series of games. TBF needs to do well though before you go Russian or Pacific. Prospects are exciting to think about to say the least.
