This scenario is based on Focus Pacific by Paradigmblue. I had Para's blessing 4 years ago just after Focus Pacific was released to produce a scenario with a reduced Allied presence. Thus GP's mod was born.

There are a few people who contributed to some reviewing within the last 2 months or so. Michael Smith (cavalry), Jaco Van Deurzen, Dave Sindel and Manuel (Traskott). Michael and Jaco also provided game play results from there stopped game which where very valuable.

While the Japanese side picked up around 30 to 40 more ships over the pasted 3 years, The allies Lost Air, Land and Sea units while gaining a few specialized ships and construction options. The specialized ship is a CS ship with WildCatFish float fighters and Sea Vindicator torpedo bombers that have been borrowed from the RHS project by Sid. The construction option is for the Iowa Class ships. You now have the option of building them as Battleships or Aircraft Carriers. This was provided to the mod by Scot (Admiral Dadman).

OK, I'm trying to setup a dropbox account for the scenario files as they contain air and naval art for the Japanese and the Allies and the file in a zip is to large for the forum. Give me a day for that. When that is done you will need a fresh install of AE with the extended map installed. Use the Map data files that are included with the scenario. As they are needed for Amsterdam Island. This Island is where many German ships and U boats will appear. The Island is a dot base and Allied units are not allowed within 10 hexes of the base. You will find it in the southwestern corner of the map. Below is the link for dropbox. Click the link, then download,(in the upper right corner), The download will start automatically. Once finished double click on the file to open it up. then copy the files to there respective folders within your fresh install of AE. Please post any questions below....GP

Yeeeees! Awesome!

I also forgot to tell you in the last thread, but thanks for reducing the power of the Allied CD defenses. The first time I played, I tried to be super aggressive, and as a result got my ass handed to me. I lost dozens of ships, thousands of soldiers, and I could only watch in wonder as the fortresses pummelled me into nothingness.

I'm impatient to try it out!

Yes, that's right and that's why I made many of the changes....GP

From my AAR, I will post here things I find that may be a problem:

1. There are 2 Soviet Bases, Anadyr and Uel Kal, that are to the extreme East of the Soviet Union.
Neither of these have any access to supply. Uel Kal is one of the bases with a BF for the Lend Lease
Transfers. When supply runs out, damaged aircraft may not be repaired.

2. my fault

3. my fault

4. Japanese air unit #342 is named as a IJAFF training squadron using Ki-27b Nates but is listed as a IJ Navy unit.

2. It appears that Japanese ship art for 615 and 616 are not available.

3. I do not see any art for the CS Jupiter.

4. Japanese air unit #342 is named as a IJAFF training squadron using Ki-27b Nates but is listed as a IJ Navy unit.

Thank you Bill. I will look into them and comment on them later on today if possible....GP

Bill, Did you use the ship art that comes with the zip file? Jupiter is in there and I believe the two Japanese ships are as well. As far as the other two items go, I'll look at them this weekend. Thank you for your observations....GP

You are right. I do remember moving the art work, now I wonder where I ended up putting it.

Found it, I put it in the wrong place, sorry.

Version 1.1---I have fixed all issues in post numbers 4 and 9 above as follows;

1. The Soviet bases Anadyr and Uel Kal now have a little Light industry and resources to keep the LCU's alive.
2. Japanese air unit ID 342 is now a IJA unit.
3. Chinese units ID #'s 7768, 7608 and 7582 are now assigned to group army HQ's.

Version 1.2---6-01-19 Ship Class Updates, Thanks to Admiral Dadman. Also thank you Bill for pointing out the deck armor issue;

4. CV Alaska deck armor adjusted to 50.
5. CV Iowa 1/45 upgrade delay is now 45.
6. CV's Iowa and Alaska fixed tower armor. now 100.
7. CV Ark Royal aircraft capacity fixed. Starts at 60 and goes to 72 on 10/42 upgrade.
8. Fixed BB No. Carolina class main guns from 14"/50 to 16"/45.

These fixes will not work in existing games.
They should over-right the existing files.
The zip file is attached below....GP

Hi btd64,

I found a few ships on the Japanese side that don't have FP.

NO FP
BC Kanto
BC Yokosuka
BC Mikasa
BC Yoshino
BC Takasago
CL Hirado
CL Shona
CL Nishiki
CL Iba
CL Minami
CL Tojo
CL Kushida
CL Echi
CL Koreyu
CL Ioshima
CL Yasoshima
CL Yubari
CL Tatsuta
CL Tenryu
CL Oi
CL Kitakami
CL Chogei
CL Jingei
CL Isukushima
CL Tokiwa
AV Kunikawa
AV Kamoi
AMC Katsushiro Maru
AMC Nosiro Maru

CA Azuma has too many 3/11 - which I think means none will fly - right?
CA Yakumo 3/5

And thanks so much for all the work you are doing to keep FP alive. I really-really like the mod and what I've seen so far of the changes you've made to tone things down a tad.

durnedwolf, there are 12 single plane groups located at 3 bases. IIRC they are Tokyo, Truk and one I don't remember. I believe that you can increase their size and then divide them to fill out the ships. Not all ships have FP units. Not even in the stock scenarios....GP

8. Removed some Dutch and French LCU’s
9. Pushed back the arrival dates for some Dutch LCU reinforcements.
10. Reduced the number of Dutch CD guns within the CD LCU’s.

Hello Everyone,

I have started a Scenario 78 game with the illustrious BillBrown, and will share my thoughts and insights from the Japanese side. Feel free to PM me with any detailed questions. I appreciate, and can see, the really neat little changes sprinkled all over the OOB, a/c, ships and to the map. Everywhere there is small, but important change, but you have to look for it, appreciate it and then understand how that fits into the bigger picture.: ex. CD unit, lvl 3 fort at Mersing, every objective port now has CD guns in the BF and a level 2/3 fort. It is still very much a stock game along historical lines but feels like both sides have been stockpiling, digging in and building capacity for a 6/42 confrontation. In peacetime, Dictatorships have complete Industrial control, but no control over technological change.

Unique A/C

G5N Liz 12/41, 4 x Ha 32 SR4
Has its moments but it’s the only a/c in the game that’s hard to keep flying while training at range 0, without twice the req. av support. Once its down for maint., its 10 days. This is truly the definition of a hanger queen. I find the accuracy so bad, you can’t even hit Queensland from PM.

Ki 43 Id – Oscar 1/42, Ha 35, GV 8, 750lb
- Two 20mm cannon. The ammo load will determine if this is effective as an interceptor against Heavies. Will have uses in a strafing role against lightly defended targets, Burma, China early.

Arado 196 – 12/41 Ha 33, FP GV 12, 600lb

- German designed Float Plane/ Float Fighter, that can now be produced under license by the Empire. Top Speed of 193, easy to remember. It’s a slow Rufe with the same load as the Jake. It can do all missions.

******* Correction ********

- The Arado is a Float plane not a FF. The upgrade path is the same as the Jake, and can only do the same missions as the Jake, but look at that GV!

A6M2 Rufe – 4/42

- Not a Unique a/c but you have about 20 3 plane Chutai on AMC's and several CA that give you added CAP

B5R Kate - 12/42 Carrier Based Recon

- This Kate variant is a valuable tool in the Imperial arsenal. At the start there are 4 Chutai of 9 each, with one being divided in the KB. These let you search harbors far from friendly territory and decrease opfor ambush opportunities in the Phil. and DEI.

Float Plane Re-Sizing

I appreciate the detail in the posts above. Most all the new ships in this scenario have no FPs and mostly start in ports. Like in stock you have many ships, I counted about 13 CA (no BB) ships that have two Chutai on each. Some or all of these can be converted/ re-sized. There are no CS ships, they are carriers at the start, so no re-sizing Chutai to 24: 9 on the AV is the option, I think.

There are 4 FP groups each at Bab, Truk and Tokyo, Alfs all size 16, with 3 planes ready to fly. There are only 5 Glens in reserve at the start. I re-sized one Alf at Tokyo to put Glens on subs in the HI. The rest of the subs will sail to Truk and every three that are produced, will go to a Chutai there and then divide it into 3 for the subs. Just like Stock, around 20k supply at Bab. Resize and increase in size on Day 1. Take FP off some ships in South China Sea to convert to Glen at CRB. The Rufe Chutai on AMC's will thin out with no replacements, so you can re-size/re-purpose or replace with the R ado.

The other two Chutai at Tokyo I converted to training squadrons using the Dave, one search, one ASW.

There are not many Alf in reserve and I used all 25 Jakes to replace a/c on key ships for the range and to fill out some groups. I really like to pair the Alf as a search plane, with a Jake on ASW. Similar ranges, saves on training pilots in two skills and with a size 16 you can divide. Really ideal for the DEI, search at every port and chokepoint. Set them at 80%, and I think you can go extended range with no fatigue increase for the Alf. Precise search arcs, I think at 2k or 3k alt, day and night, and you are all set until the first allied fighter shows up.

Oh, and you get 7 Arado 196 in reserve so get creative!

Just a question Brian, the Alaska CV had a deck armor of 125 and the Iowa CVB has a deck armor of 100. Is this right? It would seem that the Iowa would have a bit higher deck armor that the Alaska.

I think You just look up the Blitz wargaming club I will try and look later.

Also just a final call on if there is going to be any final amendments because we are waiting to restart the game.

Happy to wait the short while if there is

Bill brought up a question about the deck armor on the Iowa and Alaska CV conversions and Scot, While checking the CV's out, found some other errors with the No. Carolina BB's as well. All of which will be fixed tonight....GP

I would like to say that I think you should be only having one thread for the update otherwise some players may download the wrong version and get a bad experience. Can you not just edit the first post to change it to the newest version each time and give each version a number so players clearly understand. I have done mods for other games in the past and you need to be very careful about this as it's very easy to download and start playing the wrong version.

Just my thoughts.
