Why so few games about the Middle Ages? It would be really interesting to see a hardcore TBS/RTS game about the Crusades or Templar, Hospitaller or Teutonic Orders, or hardcore fortification game kind like 'Stronghold' just for adults (for example a simulator of Crac des Chevaliers)

Shogun: Total War (2)
Medieval: Total War (2)
Knights of Honor
Lords of the Realm (3 games)
Sengoku Jidai: Shadow of Shogun
Stronghold

Short list all right. Are there more?

For tactical games (not RTS), there is also HPS' Vengeance, although I haven't played it so can't vouch for it. I should note that when I tried to install the demo when the game came out it crashed my computer so badly that I had to do a hard reset. I gave it a pass after that.

Then of course Crusader Kings; not a wargame, but I would call Crusader Kings a "hardcore game", and the OP doesn't specify it should be a wargame!

I didn't mean all Medieval games just those which are in Matrix catalog. There is Field of Glory series but it's not enough.

Crusader Kings 2 is big daddy ! think.

Fields of Glory 2 is a fantastic engine with I'm a many more DLC to be released and keep people happy.

I'm sure Slitherine will have more games out in the future covering your wants.

The FOG Empires game is due soon aswell.
