Hey Bill (BDukes),

You must never sleep! .

Just letting you know that your requests and updates are noted and in the pool for evaluation.

Thanks for the information - good input makes this simulation that much better.

Patrick (FTBSS),

The Sm-6 Block IB addition request was logged for possible database inclusion. Only issue is that it is not high on the priority list. I'll check on the Spy -6.

Thanks,

-Wayne

B52H,

I found that the EC-135 (and variants: EC-135E, EC-135H, etc) has been logged as a possible addition to the database. As above, priority is the issue.

Just as an FYI for all who submit change requests, as items come in they are prioritized kind of along the lines of:

* Is it critical to the simulation operation - this air unit seems only to fly 100nm before running out of fuel.
* Cosmetic - I would like the menu color for this item to be day-glow pink instead of purple (stuff really happens).
* This new unit (ship, aircraft, sub) has been announced by (name your nation) and should be added.
* The A-6E was really modified to carry AGM-84E's in 1991 for the Gulf War and not in 1992.
* Nice to have feature but low priority.
* Not happening - I would really like to see the SR-71 modified to carry nuclear weapons.

You get the idea. Some need immediate action, others not so much. I was recently brought on board to assist the main DB guy in entering change requests and doing research. The more background information submitted by the requester means a higher likelihood of it happening. (Sorry, no nukes for the SR-71)!

When it comes to changing something such as the A-6E/AGM-84E item there are several steps:

* The new loadout must be added (short and maybe long range versions).
* Does it affect the number of hard points available for other weapons.
* The correct aircraft sensors must be included specifying search arcs.
* The correct (if any) datalinks between the aircraft and weapon must be added.
* Check for changes (if any) to fuel consumption, attack ranges and other flight characteristics.
* Update subsequent A-6E (1991+) models as needed.
* Run the entire database validation check for errors (weapons, mounts, sensors, magazines, loadouts, etc). Oops, forgot to include another sensor/datalink to the A-6 and/or specify an associated arc.
* A sensor can only be used during the day and you've said it is good for day/night, all weather.
* Repeat and re-validate.
* Once error free, convert the database file to a .db3 file for subsequent release to the community.

All that to make a relatively small change to an existing platform! Frustratingly, an anticipated 15 minute change can grow to several hours. Adding a new unit, say a nuclear capable Cessna, is a little more involved!

For quite a while there was only one guy doing all this for the DB3K database in addition to other CMANO related things. So, now I am in the fold assisting with the work - which I enjoy.

All the above is just to outline why a suggested change will probably not be accomplished immediately. Database modifications are constantly being done but you generally won't see them until the next major CMANO version release. Or, in the case of our nuclear loadout for the SR-71, not at all!

Thanks,

-Wayne Stiles

Requesting SR-71(Bx) variant into DB3000

The SR-71(Bx) was a hypothetical variant of the SR-71 that was proposed in the mid-70s and it could carry 4x AGM-69A SRAM missiles internally. With the incredible speed of the SR-71, the SRAM's would have had a whopping 514nmi range.

Well, hey - figured it was coming as soon as I posted it!

Maybe if I get really bored and ALL other DB requests are completed (hah!) I'll work on this one! In the meantime we have to go with this one below.

I'm glad to help. It has been so long since we had big modern DB update I go extra miles to see what can be done. I have lots half built and just wait on things Wish get update as much as Cold War DB but I know busy. Harpoon game guy move quicker and he had to much lead in his drinking waters.

Thank for your hard works! I appreciate you.

B-52/B-2/B-1 Loadouts:

All JASSM loadouts should also have corresponding JASSM-ER loadouts. Basically, if a can use JASSM it can also use JASSM-ER.

Is there any ETA for the various modern MBTs missing from various nations? I just ran a North vs. South Korean scenario and I realized that the latest database (477) didn't have the K2 Black Panther, the various versions of the K1, or any variants of the Abrams for the Americans past the 2001 M1A2 SEP. I did some digging and realized that a lot of countries are missing their modern MBTs or even missing tanks in their entirety. If they aren't already on the priority list I can provide a list of the vehicles that are missing so they can be worked on for future updates.

The JASSM and JASSM-ER have the same warhead body seeker guidance system and software the only change is a new more efficient engine and a larger fuel tank (basically they made a lighter and more efficient engine and used the spare weight for more fuel).
IOC was on B-1B and shortly afterwards B-52. f-16 integration finished in 2016 or 2017
http://www.deagel.com/news/US-Air-Force-Takes-Delivery-of-First-Production-Lot-of-the-JASSM-ER-Cruise-Missile_n000012567.aspx

-15E integration finished this year
https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/lockheed-martins-jassm-er-declared-operational-on-f-15e-strike-eagle-300594010.html

Also the AN/FPS-118 OTH-B was decommissioned in 2002 and dismatled in 2005 but has no end date in the database. On the train and can't get you the citation now but I will update later

Hi Tookatee,

It would be very helpful if you could provide whatever documentation/references you have regarding these units. With enough specific detail they may have a higher likelihood of inclusion.

Thanks,

-Wayne

Full capability was planned to be achieved this year for the B-52 and F-16, and 2021 for the B-2 according to pp. 30 of this:

The JASSM and JASSM-ER have the same warhead body seeker guidance system and software the only change is a new more efficient engine and a larger fuel tank (basically they made a lighter and more efficient engine and used the spare weight for more fuel).
IOC was on B-1B and shortly afterwards B-52. f-16 integration finished in 2016 or 2017

-15E integration finished this year

Also the AN/FPS-118 OTH-B was decommissioned in 2002 and dismatled in 2005 but has no end date in the database. On the train and can't get you the citation now but I will update later

Hi Tookatee,

It would be very helpful if you could provide whatever documentation/references you have regarding these units. With enough specific detail they may have a higher likelihood of inclusion.

Thanks,

-Wayne

I'll try my best to link to the specific websites that have appropriate documentation, but I can't post links yet.

The wikis for both the M1 (the Wikipedia article for the M1_Abrams) and the K2 Black panther (The Wikipedia article for the K2 Black Panther) provide extensive citations and detail into the different variants that exist for each specific unit. I specified these two units in my original message because they're the front-line tanks of their respective countries and their inclusion would probably affect gameplay the most as the United States and South Korea are involved in many relevant scenarios. The M1A2 has gone through many upgrades since the SEP v1, some of which include the TUSK kit (entered service in 2006), the SEP v2, the M1A2C (also known as the SEP v3) variants that have been/are currently being produced with the Trophy Active Protection system (2017), and the recently announced v4/M1A3 variant.

The baseline K2 Black Panther (entered service in 2014) and the K2 PiP variant are the latest South Korean MBT, over 200 have already been produced, about 100 more are being produced, and about another 100 plan to be produced. It's noted for its use of the KSTAM (the wiki article for the KSTAM) round that functions as a fire and forget anti-tank munition that uses a lofted trajectory and systems similar to the SADARM American submunition, in that it employs active radar to find a target after deploying a parachute while over the target area and then engages said target with an Explosively formed penetrator. The K2 also has a millimeter band RWR system and a soft kill missile defense system, with the PiP variant also containing a Hard kill missile defense system similar to Trophy.
