Is there a point to posting this that has any value at all?

You could puzzle and puzzle "til your puzzler was sore" and find no reason for this thread.

That sounds like a "Pooh-ism".

If I respond to this by disregarding it, does that encourage further such behavior?

Admiral Dadman was on the right track when he guessed "pooh-ism" to my "puzzled and puzzled til his puzzler was sore" line. Anybody know the source of that quote? Everybody here (at least, everybody in American above age 50 or so, knows the program very well).

Dear WingCmdr,

It appears you are digging a deep hole. Respectfully I would like to suggest you put aside your shovel.

I don't make a habit of censorship, self-imposed or otherwise, as it's not something I feel is ever good for society, relationships, etc. Some might believe in benevolent censorship. I do not. That is to say, I never block anyone.

WingCmdr, I'd simply ignore the thread you found so offensive; it will be forgotten in less than a week unless you keep bringing it up to draw attention to it and yourself. I was enjoying your AAR until the abrupt end and I hope you will find a partner which you can have a good game with in the future. This is a good community and the game has a lot to offer. I think you mentioned elsewhere that you had just retired and I think it would be a tragedy if you didn't get to enjoy this game and the multiplayer aspect of it in your great period of leisure. Hell, the forums are getting less crowded by the week and I want as many people to stay here as possible! So, for now, just let it all be water under the bridge and get back to enjoying this game we all love with us.

Doxing is the posting of personal information that can allow others on the internet to identify and locate people. I believe the image that did such was removed, as it should be considering doxing can be dangerous. People have been killed as a result of it. A streamer a couple years ago was shot when someone on the internet identified his address, called the police on him (an activity known as "swatting"), and the SWAT team subsequently shot him as they thought they were dealing with a hostage situation. But this is beside the point. Let it go. You're fixating on this to your own detriment.

Correct. Why did it take 26 hours? How many hours after I requested the Post not the attachment be removed?

I am getting texts from cell phone stores in several states.

Welcome to the Internet, where everything can be put out there instantly but there are not enough monitors to screen it on a timely basis. Your complaint no doubt went to a busy guy who may have been doing the monitoring job as a "volunteer" position and only (if he has time) checks things occasionally after he gets home from work. I think this forum's moderator is in that situation.
Ranting at others for not responding fast enough will not do anything helpful.
As Anachro and others have hinted, the best thing to do when someone flames you on the internet is ignore it and continue to act as an unruffled gentleman. It drives the flamers crazy!

Look at post #1. Where does it identify his job title? I actually held a position with the title "Accounting System Administrator" so Administrator doesn't tell me enough. When I saw his post I checked and I thought he was just another member. If it weren't for his link to twitter link I still wouldn't know.

But you're a Navy Man Also

I don't see anything that says Administrator in post #1 in this thread - all indications are that you posted it?

I don't get the reference to "Navy Man" either. If you mean long time player of WITP-AE, that I am - but it gives me no special authority or privileges.

People here will listen to you if you present reasoned information and avoid words meant to inflame the discussion. You have responded to suggestions by attacking everyone who offers the mildest criticism. They are trying to help you - so respond in good humour and explain in words if something bothers you without using attack language like calling people stupid/ignorant/biased etc. (just examples, not saying you personally have done this). OK?

Why doesn't someone go to Wiki and define doxing for the benefit of the forum?

Wikipedia deals with factual stuff that an old style Encyclopedia would have contained. Internet terms and slang are not part of their area of concern. You need to bookmark this site:

I removed the identifying information as soon as I saw the issue. If you have further problems the quickest way to get help is to contact support@slitherine.co.uk as the team there has much greater timezone coverage.

Cheers

I get texts and calls from several states without ever having my number posted. It's the way scammers work now, and it's well known.
