One day turns

Ok, let's see if I can keep from getting the crap hammered out of me again.

Strategy: whatever I happen to think is a good idea that turn. :D

AAR's start in a few days.

Hi, Mogami takes the mound. The opposing lineup is formidable they have a team batting average of .400 lead the league in stolen bases homers and RBI (not to mention dirty tricks)
Mogami is tired. It's been a long season. Can his arm hold out? There's no one in the bullpen. It's a 20 inning game.
To begin with there is no one in the outfield no infield so he can not allow any contact. He grips the ball in his sweaty palm and peers toward the catcher. There is no catcher. Just a 6 foot 4 inch batter from Japan taking warm up swings with a redwood tree.
"Crap" "Now I have to make him swing at the first pitch and have him hit it back to me." He straightens before going into his windup........Just then he notices that the Japs get 30 outs per inning.

I have to admit, I do wish I had saved the email after one particularly treacherous operation of mine where Mogami called me a "Richard Cranium"...

Hi, In my state use of substances that cause hallucinations are illegal. (I do recall e-mails where Dadman refered to himself as such but I would never mock my opponent (while he had a Navy)

I must correct myself. The expression you used was "d.i.c.k.weed" after I double barrelled you on a bombardment mission.

Hi, Enemy CV TF are always in the worse possible spot. Unless you actually spot them you have to assume they are where they can hurt you the most.

Scenario 19 again. I'm getting to hate this scenario (so much I started 2 new ones)

I can't really add anything to the AAR yet. I can't give away intell.
Enough to say I'm trying to piece together what Dadman is up to.

There was no reason to leave the airgroups at PM. They begin under strength and with bad morale. I prefer to let them rest a bit before getting them killed.

There is only one real question. Where will the main Japanese effort be made? SWPAC or SOPAC. Which Auto victory base will he go for. Luganville and Efate early do not bother me that much.
Theres not a lot of fuel or supply there and the bases are not yet built. (As Japan I always wait long enough for the US to build them to 3/4 (port/airfield)

Otherwise I have to build them myself. If they do not build them then it means they will not be defended so there is nothing to worry about. The Aussie bases are a different story. Cooktown and Cairns begin with size enough to be used in support of attacks against Townsville.

I'm curious why you shelled Luganville. It was clear you were going to capture the place the next combat phase. I've seen players completely knock out a base the night before they captured it and then have to spend several weeks repairing it. (not to mention blowing up fuel and supply)

I forgot how much fuel and supply were left on L'ville and Efate. I want to hold back my response until it is gone.
Can you let me know when you are out of fuel and supply. Bombardment missions really eat it up. I was surprised you went so quickly to sending them before resupply had came.
Thanks I appreciate your cooperation on this matter.
The sooner I get to work sinking your ships the sooner you can begin a new game.

Never gotten over that tendency to risk 300 point ships trying to kill 10 point ships?
I don't like losing transports but those ones had just finished a very important mission.
They were looking forward to some R&R (read add AA) in PH.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/01/42

A new game versus Dadman. I'm using the surrender everything approach. All ships are going
back to PH. All bases are being abandoned. (Except Noumea, Townsville,Rockhampton,Brisbane.
Port Moresby is being held because I can't remove the troops safely. The subs will concentrate on
saving as much of the garrsion as possible. Supply and fuel are to be removed from bases
abandoned.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/02/42

Both CV returned to PH (airgroups remained at Noumea) Because the USN is so out numbered in this
scenario it is important it attains the qualitive edge. AA is the USN's great equalizer. All
ships and TF's must attain maxium AA value as soon as possible. A ship returned to PH has a
38 day turn around time. So around June 9th I'll begin getting ships I can keep.

Enemy landing on Luganville. B-17's moved to Noumea. (I have to attack the fuel and supply)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/14/42

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/15/42

I might be in a spot of trouble here. I'm at least 4 weeks from having any ships to
defend with. I need at least 2 weeks to get a Bde to Kourmac. (I'm going to transfer the
7th Aus Div from Brisbane. It will be replaced by the 3rd Aus Div. SWPAC is going to be rather thin for a while.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/16/42

IJN CV's are at LV. Will make it hard to bring over the 7th Div.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/17/42

OK don't panic. It's the 17th of May the Jap's can't have been reinforced enough already
to attack Noumea. I have a full division there. I need to get a Bde to Kourmac.
Spotted an enemy AP up north of Townsville. Plenty of bombers there. Is this TF meant
to freeze the SWPAC defense?(Since the CV are at Luganville I'm taking this threat more serious) I'll leave a few bomber groups to cover Townsville just in case but I will see about
moving two or three groups to Noumea. If he bombards there I'll really sit up and take notice.
I'll have a couple of DD's in a day or so. Bombardments use a lot of fuel.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/18/42

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/19/42

18th Aus Bde (7th Aus Div) begins loading Brisbane for Kourmac. Long Island with 3 DD departs
Noumea to pick up P-40 group. I'd like to be able to fast transport assault troops to LV
to recapture base. (and evac again)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/20/42

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/21/42

Japs have landed on Efate. The 18th Bde is on its way to Kourmac. Enough AP to move the rest of the
division have arrived Noumea and been dispatched to Brisbane. I'll rest must better when an entire division is defending Kourmac. (Kourmac is an easy fast transport from Efate)
Also 19k fuel and 13k supply are on Efate. I'll have to bomb there when I finish closing the port at Luganville.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/22/42

Lexington and Yorktown along with many CA/CL/DD arrive in 18 days. Hornet is in PH but has
not yet been dispatched. 47 days till the Marine Paras arrive. (They would be very useful right now)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/23/42

I think Dadman has seen Cooktown is empty and is moving to occupy it before I can remove the fuel and supply. Cairns still has troops (to make sure the road stays open)
12 AO left Noumea to collect the fuel there. Long Island at Brisbane will load P-40 group.
18th should arrive Kourmac tonight or tomorrow. Rest of 7th will follow in a few days.
(The 3rd Div is arriving as well.)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/24/42

Ewwww that was close. My transports arrived as the Jap TF was leaving. Now unload, fast. I don't mind the bombardments they eat fuel.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/25/42

over half the 18th have landed. Due to a rather large enemy TF lurking near Efate I am moving my transports out of Kourmac for a while. (If need be I will put the troops ashore else where and
have them march to Kourmac.)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/26/42

Moving transports back to Kourmac. Most of my bomber groups are unfit to fly as a result of last night.
But...keep burning the fuel, it doesn't matter if he knocks out Noumea if no transports full of troops are on their way.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/27/42

11 more days before I can place a surface TF to defend Noumea. the 18th is almost completly off loaded. So now it will take at least 2 Rgts to capture Kourmac. The rest of the 7th Div
has sailed from Brisbane.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/28/42

I'm sending a force to build Tomo (the first dot hex to the left of Noumea.) It's on a good
road and I don't want it available for the Japanese to land on and march to Noumea.
One EAB, the baseforce I'm evac'ing from Liekar, and 1 Bde of the 7th Aus Div will move there.
Also this will provide an alternate airfield and port.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/29/42

18 days 3 CV (Hornet has been released)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/30/42

Enemy carriers are scaring the transports bringing the rest of the 7th Div. I've changed
their homeport to Tomo so they retire to a base where they will be usefull. If I have to
I can march. The important thing is to get them ashore and not encounter surface TF or
carrier air. Still 8 days of worry remain. (In 14 days I will be quite confident)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 05/31/42

Well my fingers are crossed. 12 AO's are at Cairns to load the 48k of fuel there.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/01/42

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/02/42

Well all the transports were lost but the 7th got ashore first. 2 Bde and the HQ at Kourmac
1 Bde at Tomo. Now I'll see what these enemy CV are really up to.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/03/42

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/04/42

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/05/42

I think it's going to hit the fan pretty soon around Noumea. I have 300 combat factors
(plus the baseforce/HQ type defense only factors) So the Jap needs to bring over 600.
His Rgts are 144 each. So figure 4 Rgt plus engineers. I'm keeping a look out for 30 AP.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/06/42

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/07/42

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/08/42

I'm going to send a RCT to retake L'ville (there are 2 infantry units off the base at present.)
I'm getting more ships in the near future. If need be I can send more troops or send a TF to
pick them up. (I don't want to stay I just want to kill Japs. Efate has a number of CD units
and I don't want to tangle with them yet.)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/09/42

Cancelled the landing. Recon revealed there was more there then 1 RCT could handle (and CD units too)

I'll have to LR/CAP Tulagi to protect the AV anchored there. She's too slow to run, so I'll make him spend some planes to get her. Maybe he'll get greedy and hang around long enough to be pummelled...

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/18/42

another CA, CL and 4 DD sent to SWPAC

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/19/42

First fast transport TF formed to fetch the baseforce from PM.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/20/42

Fast transports run into enemy CV. That does not appear to be all the enemy CV.
I'm going to send my 3 CV up to Lunga hoping to find a nice target. Hopefully 2-3 enemy CV.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/21/42

hope the bad weather holds. I think the CV off Townsville is a diversion. (Dadman knows I
like to "hit em where they ain't" However my CV will move north as long as they remain
undetected)

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/22/42

Missed his CV TF by 1 hex. My CV will be in range Lunga/Tulagi in morning. (no traffic observed)
Only 3 DD were effected by CD at Efate. I have quite a few ships in SWPAC that need to return to Noumea

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/23/42

9 USN DD sunk in one turn. I think I've located all the IJN CV. I got 2 PC and 2 AP in exchange. Yippie

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/25/42

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/26/42

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/27/42

Jap CV are pursuing mine. But I don't think they'll catch me. I'll stop and refuel
and refit my airgroups. (And form 2 aircombat TF's)

Hi, No it looks worse then it was. The real disaster just occured, but I'll let Dadman crow about it first. (It happened in last game as well and I recovered from it) Unless an allied ship sinks before it gets to Noumea it lives. (after a trip to up grade AA)

In scenario 19 with 200 percent Japanese the USN is going to have to endure a period of disaster piled on disaster. The trick is to not surrender and hold on to bases you can not recapture.
Luganville and Efate do not fall into this catogory since they can be retaken. (It is very difficult for the Japanese to pile enough troops on them and be able to maintain supply. Allied heavy bombers on Noumea will always be able to keep hurting the supply stockpiles. Japanese transports unloading will suffer damage and loss.

In our first game, I managed to sink 5 of his first 6 CV's and he STILL managed to pummell me by June of 43... (actually March, but who's counting...)

Do you guys throw red herrings into the report occasionally?

I'm asking because I don't understand why Mog would tell his opponent where he was sending his CV's if he's moving them because they were scouted.

AnyWAY, as Mogami said, the AAR is behind the game (2 weeks) so as to not give away current ops.

**RADM Scott Killed.

I'm tempted to chase the remnants, as I have two CV on their way to the area, but Intel reports USN CV's no long in port Noumea, and DD's were spotted (and attacked by sub) NW of Port Noumea. I think he's on the move again. If he is, this time I'll be ready for him. Rabaul is ready with 2 Daitai of Betty and 2 Daitai of Zero for escort... If he thinks he can pound me again, he's in for a hell of a shock...

**I'm expecting his CV's to pop up somewhere soon. They are no longer in Port Noumea, and I've got that itch on the back of my neck...

**5 CV's and 3 CVL's are out patrolling the Coral Sea now. He's up to something, and I don't want to be caught in port when he pops up somewhere.

**OH man. We've engaged now, I'm going to have to go for it...

My planes attacked at extended range, so the strikes were small, and the loadouts were light (no torps on the Kates - I hate that). Apparently, he was transferring his CV's back to Noumea from Brisbane, and I've caught them. Now I have to sink them.

One question: Why no CAP? I can only infer that he had not spotted me, and did not expect to receive an attack. The damage should be just enough to slow him down.

The main battle should be joined tomorrow and the following day.

I'm curious to see if Mogami can get out of this one.
At 200% commitment for IJN it will be **** hard for the allies.
